Who's right, who's wrong? As ever, a matter of opinion which doesn't mean you have to reign yourself in just because one person was a tad offended.

I was not offended by the term w*nkers. I was offended by the fact that people who might be less economically fortunate were being labelled w*nkers, joke or not.
I am also offended by the fact that I don't seem to be allowed to be offended. And I don't give a monkeys what Stephen Fry has to say about the term 'offence' whether he has 2 million Twitter followers or not.
However, I was not going to comment upon it further or threaten never to post an opinion again, as in my opinion this is usually done in order to encourage people to tell me that I should continue to do so. I was merely going to think my own thoughts and be done with it.
Also, for the person offended by the 'flying arse' it is in fact an Arsch mit Ohren, which is a perfectly accceptable descriptive term in the German language, so I am now offended on a cultural level.
Mostly I shall be p*ssing off now to be offended in the privacy of my own living room, although Rusky's comment did make me laugh.

I was hoping you were going to say you were only joking, the fact you are genuinely offended (even if only slightly) by the term "bus wankers" is completely laughable. I didn't think there were adults like that outside of Plymouth Brethren gospel halls! Each to their own I guess, but I reckon if you are offended by that then you mustn't go through a day without being outraged or offended by numerous things and people. Interpreting the term "bus wankers" as "people who might be less economically fortunate were being labelled wankers" is just golden, you should probably be considered for sainthood.

previously somebody who was offended had to prove the offender meant to offend.
now they just have to prove they are offended.
this is clearly keeping lawyers in a lot of fees where the type of perceived offence is illegal.
personally i'm of the old sticks and stones mentality...bus w***er..it was actually very funny in the context it was conceived, mostly by its sheer irrelevance.
