At the risk of appearing to be a complete muppet, I've had my MC for over 3 weeks and only just realised it doesn't have a water temperature guage!!! :oops:

I'll never call anyone for thinking their tacho is their speedo again. :rofl:

I do however have a screenwash warning ight but it doesn't illuminate during the ignition cycle check so I'm not sure if it's faulty or just not wired up. Does anyone have a low screenwash warning light?
 
I have never used the screenwash yet so don't know ..

You have an oil temperature gauge, which is far more useful as that is the real temperature of the engine, water is a false reading really.

I've been sat there scratching my head thinking - why does it take so long to get to a reasonable operating temperature?

Still not sure about the screenwash light though. My owners manual shows it as having one. :?
 
If you want water temp you can add the LeatherZ gauge kit which give water temp, oil press and voltage... :thumbsup:

I'm OK about not having a water temperature guage as there is a light in case there is any overheating which is easier to spot that a gauge slowly creeping up.

I'm still wondering about the screenwash light though.
 
I realised the water temp gauge was missing on the way home. Yes, the oil temp is much more important and as you said, there is a warning light for the water temp if it gets too high.

One thing my 3.0Si never had (or it didn`t work!), is a green dash light indicating when the lights are on. I never used to use the automatic light setting because I never knew during the day if they were coming on or not (and have a thing about wasting energy). The M has the green light on the dash but I still tend to switch the lights on manually. Having said this I`m wonder if in the Si if the green indicator was for front fog lamps? THink it was

I like the cold engine warning lights on the rev counter although a bit of a gimmick. I generally try not to go over 3000rpm until at least over 50degree or preferably the 75 mark. I don`t get anywhere near the first warning light when cold.
 
Darren M I also had a 3.0si before my "M" and it did not have the green dash light indicating when the lights are on and I think your right it was the fog light indicator on the si. Having a water temp gauge it is amazing how quick the water does heat up then hold steady AT 180 F/82 C.
 
Screenwash is a 'hidden' orange icon on the right clock (think it's in the bottom right and is invisible until the level is low\0

You are correct but it would be nice to have both.

About 5 to 6 hours. I had the install done by my BMW dealer as they agreed to do the install without prejudice to my warranty.

I'm happy now - screenwash light has come on. Maybe I need to get out more!!

I called into the dealer to get the centre air vents sorted and they even topped up the washer fluid up for me foc - that was nice of them.
