Things drivers do that make you go ummm!

I think most of my pet hates have been covered already, but I did discover a new one last month!

I joined the M40 from the M42 and at the end of the roadworks I was behind a newish 3 Series sitting in the outside lane doing 80ish, which was fine except that it was around 10pm so there was very little traffic but in over 20 miles it just sat in the outside lane. :?

Then it slowed down to about 70 so I wanted past, but he didn't move. It waited a few miles, then as it was so quiet I used the inside lane to get past and could see it still resolutely sitting in the outside lane. WTF?

Special mention to campervan numpties on single lane roads in Scotland. :headbang:

And food delivery mopeds and cyclists that filter to the front of the queue at traffic lights then get in everyone elses way. :(

I'm sure I'll think of more!

The ones that indicate on roundabouts for the exit before the one they want.
OMG there are loads of idiots on the road it seems.

People who pull out in front of you and make you brake!!!!!!!
and then proceed to drive slowly :headbang:

Folk who can see cars joining a dual carriageway and stay in the inside lane making them brake or accelerate, when the outside lane is empty.
Absolutely this

People that pull out of a junction right in front of you when there is nothing behind you.
and this
and then the f&*kwits that hog the outer two lanes of a motorway
and the worst, lorries that take five miles to overtake another lorry on a dual carriage way :poke:

To be fair...lorries have speed restrictors so it is out of their hands to a degree.
And if they sit behind another for miles they use a lot more fuel slowing down and speeding up again (so I heard from a lorry driver).

The A34 south of Oxford to the M4 is the worst for this, as there are many steep hills.

It's not out of their hands to stop creating roadblocks though is it.

Surely they could save loads of fuel tucking in and drafting NASCAR style!

It's painful on the M26, M42/A42 towards the M1 and parts of the A1(M).

People looking down at their lap instead of out the window, its obvious they are messing about with their phone.
Phones stuck to a cradle right in the middle of the windscreen that always seem to have the screen lit up, it must limit their view especially when its dark outside.
There seems to be more and more people driving in the dark without lights on, I think it may be because new cars dashes are lit up all the time and there nothing to shout to them that their lights arent on.

I think that's since DRLs became compulsory, so front lights and generally dash lights all the time. Just no requirement for rear lights or Auto-lights. :?

Who thought that was a good idea on an unlit dual-carriageway on a wet and windy night when the MLM was doing about 50 in the middle lane despite the absence of traffic with no rear lights? :headbang:

Accidents waiting to happen surely.

Drivers of open top sports cars, who have the roof up. Just because there's a spot of thunder and lightning about.

I’ve been soaked quite a few times, once in the Midget I had to stop and put the roof up because the rain was soaking the inside of the windscreen and I couldn’t see 😂

You’ve obviously never had to take the wife out when she’s just had her hair done. I’d rather remain intact !!!

Cyclists going through a red light.

Tim.

I had this the other day. A really busy road, but slow speeds due to traffic volumes. I pass a bike and then get stuck at a red traffic light. Bike catches up and goes straight through the lights. I then catch the bike up and carefully pass it. Then another red light and the same thing happens. More red lights - this happened SIX times in a row!

You need to stop closer to the kerb!

Though of course then they just go up the middle; and if they get hit 'poor cyclist, nasty car driver!'

I had a women cut in front of me as a duel carriage way was ending going down to one lane, and then braked heavily causing me to brake behind her, plenty of space for her to have pulled in behind me, then about 800 yds later as we stopped at a set of traffic lights she then proceeded to berate me for in her words “being up her arse” apparently she had completely forgotten how she had previously cut me up!
I totally get that I could have dropped further back but figured if she’s fine at the distance then so am I :D

Yes, one of the Midgets I owned only had a hard top so I always had to take a chance with the weather. On one occasion going home from work without it on it pi££Ed down, I got soaked. :headbang:

Have to agree! Why is a lorry driver speeding up and slowing down behind another one? Just match the speed if they are literally doing 0.5mph more and it is pretty fuel efficient. The speed differences are so minor that over the course of literally an hour after spending 5 minutes over taking a single lorry they are no more than 20-30 seconds further up the road.

I think the thing that annoys me the most is when you can see big inclines coming and they go for it, you just have to sit back and watch stupidity play itself out.
