Things are about to get a whole lot MEANER!

Where does "chav" begin and end. If you put non OEM wheels on, or an aftermarket exhaust? How about the aero body kits or Machine Monkeys aluminium bits and bobs? AC Schnitzer, expensive tasteful aftermarket additions, or chav bling?

:?

the way i see it is if you don't like people criticising your choices, don't post pics up. people can say all they want about my car, doesn't mean i'll listen to them.

you're very lucky this isn't another forum i use, as he would've been shot down even worse.

There's criticism and there's insulting someone, which is what you did.
Just because he would've been 'shot down even worse' on another forum doesn't make it ok does it?

if someone didn't like something about my car, i'd rather they tell me straight than try and be all diplomatic about it.

agree to disagree, as jonny said.

it's a chav modification why say it's something it isn't?

You didn't say it's a chavvy modification, you called Brad a chav.

My missus is from Essex, yet she isn't an "Essex girl", in the stereotypical form.

Let's play spot the difference:

"That modification looks a bit chavvy to me".

"You're a chav".

Can you see it?

Well I still like it and want to see the finished result. On another forum one guy put some tasteful graphics on his Z3 and he was cast out like a leper.... :o

Can I just say: Not at any point have I been offended by any of the comments being made in this thread, yes some have been a little edgy at times and yes any less stronger of an individual might have been offended by some of the comments made by individuals on here. The pure and simple fact of the matter is that yes what I have chosen to do to my zed isn't by any shed of the imagination 'conservative' or in line with the original design of the car, this will undoubtedly displease many of the target demographic audience that the bmw Z series was designed for.

This is why there are very little aftermarket modifications available for the z4. The z4 was designed and remains in a price braket that might be outside of what the younger generation may be able to afford with insurance being very high and running costs far from ideal for a young person.

I may be 23, but I love my zed and I worked hard for it and for those of you that must know I am a Marketing Manager on a modest salary for an independant I.T. firm, before this I was a sponsored athlete and earnt enough to put a deposit down on a house for both myself and my girlfriend.

Personal biography out of the way, when I bought the car I knew I was going to turn this car into a crazy, edgy car that really stood out and it seems to be doing that, It will be a show car, it will not be raced, abused and stood around in Tesco car parks at 3 am while I snort a line off the bonnet...

the car attracts attention with the mods it has at the moment and im not about to stop doing what I am doing to this car as long as it make me happy...

You're going to get stick whatever you do.

F*ck em I say. I may not agree with your choice of mod but at least you got some balls for doing it. I respect that.

Variety is the spice of life.

If you did something totally crazy like merge the grill openings of your existing bumper into that new bumper you bought - now that would be :winner:

i see you're getting wound up by it all, which is actually making me laugh

the guy can do what he wants. it's his car after all. it won't stop me pointing and laughing at it though.

marius

thats not a bad photoshop attempt.....

i quite like the shape to the bumper esp around the bottom, not sure where the fogs would go tho. its just the large grills that i think dont suit the curvy shape of the car.

they have obviously taken some styling from the M bumber but tbh i think fitting this if it came with normal grills wouldnt be half bad (for me) and its not like with this bumper your changing your car to look lik an M.

for me its far worse changing to M bumpers/skirts etc so your non-m looks like one than putting on a bumper that looks a bit like an M cos thats where the styling ques came from.

it definatly looks better an that image than the one with the doors and just lying there on the floor.

like i said before get it on and lets see. tbh just that pic on its own is sort of growing on me a bit. i think its just the deep grills that are not quite right....

for what its worth, i grew up in doncaster early 90's. chavs were the people in nova's who put a 15" alloys, a massive back box (or worse a shitty cover), a K&N (and claimed 500+bhp increases), painted their drums red and lowered it if they had the money (kid you not someone at school just put paving slabs in to "drop" the suspension) these then spilled over in to the saxo vts/corsa and burbery (fake from donney market)

what i did like and still do are the people who have the cars and really did know their stuff, subtle mods for performance and the Q type cars. i had a v6 mundano gear X saloon (not when i was at school tho). not the fastest thing but by god did the chavs have a look in their faces when the grandad mobile saw them off!

Great thread has cheered me up this morning  This is why I never understand modifying (apart from performance) - taking something which still looks fresh and making it look far worse
