Er , a no to this as have been told by suppliers that ' arb's can/have damaged the mounting points on z4mc's. So will do the other stuff ! Should get her ( my z4mc is a she ) back tomorrow.

they can and do...... but only on the extreme bar options.... ideally the mount point needs imo, weld on reinforcements....

I've put the H&R E46M3 ARBs on my Z4MC knowing full well that some people have ripped the mounts. However, as Beedub says, I think it's only when you have them on the stiffest settings, and IMO that's with the Ground Control ARBs, which are stiffer than the H&R ones. I've put some 6mm shims under the front ARB brackets which I consider should considerably strengthen the mounting points without the need to weld.

Really not worth it though is it , difficult to see the point in damaging the z for this ?

I also have a Z3MC (owned for 9 years) and on that car there's the risk of S54 bearing shell failure (which I've experienced), Vanos failure, boot floor tearing, rear ARB bracket tears and diff mount tears as not uncommon problems. Therefore, against that background, and having seen the photos of the front ARB mount tears on the Z4MC (nothing compared to boot floor tears on the Z3MC), I'm prepared to take the risk. Life's one big risk and my Z4MC isn't too precious to take a small risk especially when I'm happy to track it. Anyway, I've considered the problem and believe that my use of my own bespoke shims address the problem and adds sufficient strength to the mounting points to prevent the potential problem from occurring, and if it doesn't then the problem can be easily resolved by relatively simple welding.
