Thick Car Insurance Question

Hi all,

Just have a thick question regarding my Insurance Policy on the Z3 which is due for renewal soon with Adrian Flux. Do I need to inform them of a non fault claim I made recently on my BMW Insurance Policy which covers my M135i? I'm guessing I do from the wording contained on the Driving History section on the Adrian Flux renewal form which mentions any loss whether a claim was made or not to the insurer concerned should be disclosed, so guessing that covers any other policies held where a claim has been made.

Will this bump the premium up with Adrian Flux or is it just for their records?

Sorry if its a dim question as never claimed on a motor insurance policy before until recently.

Cheers,

Tim.

Yes and yes unfortunately Tim.

Had something similar last year with my Tiguan and it bumped up my Z4 insurance by £100

I'd already renewed my Z insurance when I got rearended by a transit van. Not my fault but got a letter from my insurer a couple of days later telling me I owed an extra £55!

Ahhh that sucks :( Thanks for the reply, I didn't even think it would affect the Z3s Policy, seems a bit unfair

Thanks for that, I can see having the car bumped by a hit and runner is going to cost a pretty penny all said and done :(

Insurance racket and scammers. Surprised the EU regulatiors never picked up on this as it is a clear scam which is not allowed in any other European country.

Called Adrian Flux today and explained my other policy claim and they just said noted and have issued my insurance cert at the original quoted price with no increase :?

That is good. I always thought they took their opportunities to extort money out of you when they get a sniff.

We had a non fault claim in 2012 and I always wondered if we ever paid more than we should have done because of that. That said, we always do a good job of shopping around and playing the game. Insurance is a lottery at the best of times.

One insurer I would avoid like the plague is "One Call Insurance". After getting a decent quote for a Volvo V60, at 9 months through the policy I changed for a Mercedes C Class and also moved house a month before. They charged £60 (£39 Admin and £20 policy) for changing my address (safer post code and garaged), then hit me with £125 additional for the change of car.

My missus was with Sheilas Wheels and got money back for us moving house....go figure..!!

Thanks for the replies, I've found Adrian Flux to be OK over the years I've used them on the Z3, especially with aftermarket stuff, they just note it and don't normally increase the premium, never had to claim from them though.

With BMW who use Allianz I found them very fuss free when I banged the claim in for the M135i and handled everything without having to do anything. I'm holding my breath though come renewal time next month as I've lost my NCB :(

I was kinda thinking after I spoke with Adrian Flux today that they will take my premium and give me the impression all is good and then a few days down the line they will say my premium will need to increase by an extra £XXX

Call me cynical :)
