They're having a laugh

A while ago one of my neighbours had a water meter put in. Last week, 2 big water company vans turned up and dug another larger hole in the pavement outside his house, this time to do with his water quality. Later 2 more vans turned up to mess around with the pipes, the next day a big lorry turned up and filled in the hole followed by some blokes to do the tarmac. All fine and finished. NO! Today 2 more vans and a load of blokes arrived and are digging it up again.:rofl::rofl::rofl:What a clown world we live in:rofl::rofl:

And then they say our water charges have to keep going up because they can't afford the costs of running the system properly.
All public services are a complete joke in the UK.

Our super local Council were given £20 million from central Government three years ago as part of the Tory 'levelling up' policy.
They decided, in their infinite wisdom, to blow the whole lot on a new swimming pool and 'upgrading' the sports centre. It has taken three years of throwing millions at planners and architects. They finally started work last week and are now projected to be £5 million over budget, which will come from our local tax.

We already have a perfectly usable swimming pool (next door to the new one) and sports centre. So they are going to waste £25 million on providing the same things but with some pretty outdoor benches and walkways. The benches will be vandalised and no-one will use the walkways.

Meanwhile the town centre is still a dump.

That's not how levelling up money works, they have to put in a bid for a specific project and the money can only be spent on that project and nothing else or it must be given back. We've only just started spending the £25 million that we got. Public sector procurement is a nightmare!
