There is a Z4 in there somewhere

Hope you don't mind but this was our first run out in our new toy.

Bury to Bath and back just before Christmas. Blue sky all the way there and part of the way back. My wife is well wrapped up as you can see but what a fantastic journey with the roof down. We used to have a Caterham and whilst it was good fun and very quick it wasn't a patch on the Z4 especially as I have now reached 71 and no longer have the need to drive like I stole it. I have to agree regarding the caterham,
the zed is so much more usable as a daily/weekend car, a trip from Bury to Bath in the Caterham would have seemed endless, especially for the passenger

What a great photo, she looks nice and toasty...I bet her bottom warmer was on too
These cars have fabulous heaters, I hope you had a good journey :)

My Caterham was a 1700 X flow on Webers, LSD but a 4 speed box so at 70 mph in top it was really noisy. Heater was rubbish and no way would my wife have sat in it for a 190 mile trip. Even without the deflector in the Z4 we could chat, listen to the radio and enjoy the journey.

The hood on the Caterham was a pain to put on so if rain was likely it was crossed fingers that I didnt have to stop.

No heated seats so yes the bottom warmer worked and she really enjoyed the journey

If you haven’t got heated seats then what’s the bottom warmer?

Mine is a XFlow - no heater; no side screens and we never bother with the hood - I'd go to aero screens if I thought I my other half would let me get away with it!

You're right the Zed is an all year drop top and when the weather / journey is too much for the Caterham then its the Zed which is also my daily. The 3.0 Zed is far quicker than the Caterham on a reasonable road but nothing goes round bends like the 7! :driving:

No heated seats in the 7 but heated seats in the Z4.
I looked at aero's for my 7 but having had a couple of stones hit the screen and one denting the ally frame I decided not to botherCaterham 001.jpg

The volcanic cabin heater and heated seats certainly make the Zed an all year drop top - its my lower back / kidneys that seem to need the heat now.

My 'toy car' the other year outside Kentwell Hall acting as a marker for a group of Sevens coming from Europe heading for a coffee stop at the Hall.Seven at Kentwell.jpg

Loved driving a Caterham, although mrs smartbear wasn’t impressed

I love my Westfield, but even I would shy away from a 190 mile drive (unless it was in circles on a track)

I did the 70 mile (each way) commute to work a few times in mine when I was working - guaranteed I arrived with a smile on my face!

Depending on roads, traffic and weather, that could be a great way to start and finish the day, or bloody awful :D

I have to admit I don’t find the heater on the e89 as good as what some say. It’s ok, but no better than what I have in the 320d.

The E85 heater is like an oven
