ThePocketGT e86 has been written off

For those of you who know of my coupe @thepocketgt on insta, has unfortunately been taken by the devil insurance company as a totalloss. With an estimated repair cost of £6200.
On the surface it looked like a bit of paint on the drivers door and rear quarter. They are saying its more involved and there could be hidden costs. Image include for reference.

Therefore I'm on the look for a replacement, Ideally I would like a Ruby black e86 3.0si sport manual or auto. With black or red seats, msport steering wheel with multifunction and preferably with original stereo. Ideally without the satnav. Must have FSHwith an annual mileage not exceeding 10k a year.

Drop us a pm if you know of one for sale.

Looks like it would polish out :D Anyway sorry for your loss and hope you find a replacement soon

That's a real shame Tom. :(

The damage looks pretty minimal. I might have been tempted to see what they wanted to keep the car.

But I hope you can find a replacement in time for Beaulieu.

That's a shame,op.

Given the relative rarity of the Coupes, I'd have thought it worth while buying it back off them?
I know it be an Accident damage repairable, but still,it would keep a lovely z on the road :driving:

How on earth is that a write-off is beyond me. I've seen spot repair guys repair far worse for less than a tenth of the cost. :headbang:

This cost £750 to repair on my lad's 1 series and the repair is first class, you cannot tell there was any damage. £6.5k to repair yours.... :?

The insurance company must be on weed or other illegal substance because no way is that a write off and no way is there any hidden damage, it’s a minor scrape at best, no replacement panels just paint around £500 to 700 at most. See if you can buy it back of them and get it done privately.

It's damaged?? Where????

I did worse to my 3 series about 10 years ago (rear door and rear quarter scratched on corner of a stone wall) and got it sorted for about £300. The rest of the car is starting to look a bit sad here and there now but I still can't see where the repair was.

Has the wheel took a clatter?
That is what I thought. It has been hit on that, then they would assume damage on drive shafts, suspension and so on

Worth getting someone to check it over, I'd have thought, to assess the actual damage. Then you will know if it makes sense to buy it back and fix it privately. You'd have the value of the car from the insurers to repair it :)

On the surface looks minor, but yes if wheels have had a side impact and something is bent...not sure how they have come to £6.5k though with a simple look at the bodywork? Unless Ruby black paint contains gold flake!?

Would be a shame to lose it, keep it, take the money, and repair? You will have a nice documented history of it should you sell it on? And Coupes being rare as they are, someone will always snap up a cat car at a good enough price.

They’ll probably want to replace any item that has the slightest damage. I just had a slight incident in a polo the other day, and the estimate to replace a headlight, and replace the front bumper is nearly £1800 from an approved garage…

I appreciate there is more damage than the picture shows, but it seems mad that the car has been written off, good luck I’m your search for a new one 👍
