The Zed Is Goin :(

Unfortunately I am leaving the country and going to Australia by the end of the year so will be selling my beloved Zed! I looked at shipping her over but don’t think I can justify the hassle and cost.

I thought I would post some images on here and see if anyone was interested before I start to get it ready for sale.

I am getting the wheels refurbished in the next couple of weeks so will look good as new and the car has been garaged since I have had it.

Black 2003 3.0 SE Roadster Manual with 46,000 miles
Heated Seats
Sat Nav
Professional Sound System
Cruise Control
6 CD Changer
Wind Deflector

How much do you guys think I should advertise the car for?

You'll just have to buy one when you get here. And look on the bright side, whatever you buy will never have been driven on salted roads

Thats is so true as the 108 wheels love our salted roads! :headbang:

Problem is the price of Z4's in Aus is just insane!! The M's go for 60-80k we can get them for 15 -20k over here!

Speaking from experience it helps to forget how much cars cost in the UK as quickly as you can...took me about 5 years...

And don't forget the sunshine is free

Ship her over and drive her til she dies from her salty wounds - paying what we do for decent cars here borders on criminal. :(

Yeah you are right and i will find this hard to used too until im earning Aus money!

Buy a couple of M's, ship them over and sell one to help pay for the other ;)

Looks like a nice tidy car, black on a pre-facelift does look great, I'd probably say £7.5k would be a fair price to ask for and expect to sell in reasonable time, but who knows what the market will be doing this winter...

You can take the car as household though and don't pay tax over it.

I would buy an M now, take it with you to Australia and sell it after a number of years still with profit ...

This would be a great option but would still cost 4k i think total which i'd rather spend on my mortgage over here.

The other option is also a good idea but if i'd only get 7.5k for the car then id have to match that for an M and then pay the shipping costs.

I won't claim to be an expert on this subject, but I'm pretty sure they'd be some form of import duty due on the car. In addition there would be compliance costs to be covered too. It used to be the case that import duty was calculated on a scale that took into account the period of time you'd owned the car prior to importation. Trust me, the ATO don't miss a trick :!:

Also any profit you might hope to make would probably be negatively impacted as a result of the car being a grey import too.

All up it probably isn't worth the hassle.

Hey Demon,

I'm looking at buying a 3.0i SE manual at the moment, yours looks lovely jubly!

Could you perhaps PM some details and how much you are looking at getting for the car?

Thanks in anticipation

Alex
