The Zed getting picked up for warranty work! *UPDATE 31/10*

:poke: Having the following looked at:

1. Corrosion to all alloy wheels in various places
2. Knock from middle of car at intermittent intervals when going over any types of bumps, generally at lowish speeds
3. Rattle from passenger rear speaker, behind seat headrest
4. Rattle/Hiss at driving speed from drivers window top/middle
5. Excess road noise/hiss from rear of soft-top
6. Auto Recirculation doesn’t appear to work as the book says - i.e. bad smells outside still come into the car even if this is on
7. When Air Recirculation is activated, the cabin starts to smell like cigarettes – yet the car has never been smoked in
8. Unable to clean off several marks on the drivers door sill
9. Drivers side xenon appears to shine high
10. Auto Lights appears to be hyper sensitive – i.e. coming on in most lighting conditions and not going off even if quite bright – is this normal?

I'll keep you posted in case any of your guys are having similar issues :thumbsup:

Out of interest, are BMW pretty good with warranty work? I.E. just get on with it? Or are they known to do auxilliary stuff and then charge you? Im telling them when they collect to contact me should anything with a cost associated to it is required - which I hope should not as its in warranty! :poke:

Never had any issue with warranty work personally, might depend on dealer though :idunno:

Your's should still be in manufacturer warranty period so shouldn't have any problems :D
 
Jamie, mucho worko! How long do they expect to have your baby for?

Can't really comment on the warranty side of things unfortunately but, please report back and le us know how you get on, specifically...

1. - Mines is an '04 but the wheels (genuine) were new in '06, showing slight corrosion and should still be under warranty.
7. - Same! Thought the previous owner was having a laugh saying he was a non-smoker!?! Stinks after a short time eh?

Well they are doing a collection and drop off - as BMW charge £5 if your >5 miles away from them (work is 7.1) and you want them to drop you off - cant work that one out!!! So no idea on how they will it in total - but it have to get back to me today for me to go home!!!

Yea, i'll let you know what happens on 1 and 7 - strange how we both have the same issue on 7!! :)

My local stealer doesn't charge for collect/deliver, and it's a 35 mile round trip - influenced my buying choice.

Not had any prob's with auto lights on Z4, but on my 07 120 they were constantly on.

Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

BMW said my wheels had been refurbed at some point, so it needs to go back wherever that is to get sorted - hummmm - i dont think so, i might try a different dealer. Any thoughts?

RESOLVED - Known Issue -They re-torqued the suspension strut brace. No more knocks!
3. Rattle from passenger rear speaker, behind seat headrest
Unresolved. Its going back in for this
4. Rattle/Hiss at driving speed from drivers window top/middle
Unresolved. Its going back in for this
5. Excess road noise/hiss from rear of soft-top
RESOLVED - They did some tweaks with the roof, whatever it was, its less noisey now!
6. Auto Recirculation doesn’t appear to work as the book says - i.e. bad smells outside still come into the car even if this is on
UNSURE -Need more 'car' time

RESOLVED - They cleaned some element/filter out and no more smells

UNRESOLVED - Might go back in for this, i might give it another bash, i just thought they could do it when they cleaned her! :)

NO ISSUE - They checked the lights and they were perfect - must have been how the lights reflected in other cars bumpers which made me thing this
10. Auto Lights appears to be hyper sensitive – i.e. coming on in most lighting conditions and not going off even if quite bright – is this normal?
NO ISSUE - They said sensitivity cannot be adjusted

Any thoughts/comments on the above?

Any indication as what they replaced mate? Part No. on the warranty invoice? Would like this sorted in mines too, it will stop the passenger comment "do you smoke?"

Zed - They reckon they checked the alloys and you can tell visually, i reckon it a load of horlicks and will bring it up next time

As for the part - they didnt replace anything, just cleaned something out - i'll try and find out - but i didnt get any print out of any sort

Unresolved. Its going back in for this.

A total shot in the dark with this (this has come up numerous times on other forums early on): try moving the passenger seat belt to a different position and push the seat all the way back. See what that does for you.
 
Re the wheels they will not touch re furbs on 108s dont know about other wheels.

Had that knock twice you mention today think i was driving quick at the time going out tommorrow will see what happens.

My car was off lease and advertised as non-smoking car. I got $1k off when I showed them the cigarette burn in the carpet behind the driver's seat.
