The Z4 moment...

...when you start your engine and suddenly wish to open the roof, but then realise you haven't moved the boot cover down and you can't be arsed to get out and move it :D

I don't leave the boot/roof cover in the up position for that very reason. No matter what, the roof cover is always placed back down after I leave the car.

Theres a roof cover in the boot?

I realy know so little about my car.

Too busy :driving: .

Thank goodness for the Forum. :D

I normally ensure that the cover is down but on a recent trip down south, when load space was a premium and top-down motorways not much fun, I discovered that a full size brolly sits nicely across the top of the raised cover where it is readily to hand if needed.

I definitely know that feeling. My old e85 boot tray vibrated like fook when it was down due to a rather large speaker in the boot. So it had to be up to stop the bad noises. A few times in traffic jams I got out to pop it down

i leave mine up unless its warm out. otherwise i would always be having to put it up and down whenever i put my gym bag in the boot

I pretty much always have mine down for that very reason , nothing worse thatn pressing the button and getting nagged by idrive

I wonder if anybody has removed the cover and just bypassed the sensor so the car always thinks it's down?

mine is always down, but there is the odd occation when i forget to put it down after emptying the boot, and good god its irritating! haha!

Do you know what would be great ? If, when you go to open the roof, the car could somehow sense if the space below the boot tray is clear or not... If it is then why not have the boot tray move automatically ? If it's not then iDrive can point out the error of your ways.nthwn you can always get your gym bag or shopping in and out with no issues, assuming you stick the roof up when you're leaving the car. Of course that would introduce one more thing to go wrong... But surely the tech is not that complicated given some of the other clever sh1t that cars do nowadays ?

That would probably just add even more weight. The E89 is already heavy enough...
