The Z4 and kids?

Hi,
So I´m about to recieve a MY2020 baby girl any day now and it got me thinking. How do you use your Z with kids around? My Z is only used for some B road fun, trackdays and going to the summerhouse. All of that is going to be quite hard when I´m one seat short soon. Its quite nice taking the Z going places even though your not on it all of the time instead of using the daily on the weekends. First thought that popped into my mind was upgrade to an M2 but I´m having a hard time just thinking of getting rid of the Z. What would you do?

Hehe, I was entertaining that thought with looking at a 997 actually but the "backseat" is so cramped its hard getting a childseat back there.

When children are old enough not to need a special seat and until they grow too tall to fit, the back seats of a 911 are ideal for them. They provide very good all round protection.

Ha, you're already past the 'what would i do' question... more a question of what wouldnt i have done....

But yeah, sell the z4, buy a 3 series. Estate. Your days of driving 2 seater sportscars are now on pause for the next 18 years 🤣

When our first daughter was due 25 years ago I was driving an MGBGT. I’d always had sports cars, kit cars and classics but had to part with the MG and so I bought a stunning BMW 325i in Dolphin Grey which I loved, it didn’t last long, the two doors and the small boot were impractical for the pram and shopping and it was sadly replaced with an ageing Volvo 740 estate which turned out to be great fun, quick, bullet proof and Uber safe family motoring ! Six years ago the kids became independent and I went out in search of a Zed, I bought one, a stunning Maldives blue and so it began, I’m on Zed number 3 now and have a permanent smile on my face. If you can afford to keep the Zed and use it for the rare times which you will have to yourself do it, otherwise find an estate that will swallow prams and the huge amount of baby kit you’ll need every time you leave the house, a Volvo will keep your family safe, good luck and enjoy

Same thing happened to me 4 years ago. The z4 coupe went and replaced with a Passat. Great car ticks all the boxes.

Keep the Z4 - keep it nice and cosy for those times when you just need to get out on your own and let off some steam :)

And have a more practical daily to use for the rest of the time.

Wife has a 2 series cab and i have a Megane estate for 'normal' use.so grand kids seat not required in my Z. Dont think its legal till they are 2 ?

Thanks for all the feedback! I´m not really sure what to expect but I am sure its probably not going to be what I think it will be like...
Thankfully I already have an estate daily that wil fit the needs of shopping and what not and the Z is not really an expense just sitting in the garage so for now I can keep it and see how much use I get out of it. But yeah I think maybe I´ll have to hit the pause button on the sunday afternoon drives getting ice cream I suppose :)
