And what would you call the thousands of our forum members?

These fine ladies and gentlemen are a rare breed. I think you didn't see me put "average". Plus, I am preeettyyy sure we don't have thousands of active members here with Z4s...

I normally fire up the "Dukes of Hazard" Air horn (other horns are available). Flash the lights and simultaneously give the horned hand signal and the Gene Simmons tongue signal.
This seems to ensure that nobody waves back at me.

I'd say I get a 50/50 response to a wave or a flash (of the headlights, before someone chips in).

Interestingly, have been to France twice this year on driving holidays (one with SWMBO and my annual Le Mans trip) and I can safely say that whilst the Z4 is a much less common, every Z4 I met waved, flashed and smiled enthusiastically.

For the record, the Z4 is my first of many mid-life crises that I plan to have over the next 10 years or so :driving:

The average person that buys the Z4 is usually an old guy or a guy going through his mid life crisis. Usually never enthusiasts.

Not me, I'm an enthusiastic old guy going through the midlife crisis.....
Although, I can never remember what I'm enthusiastic about these days...........

I bring the average age down at 19  bringing some youthful spirit and energy to the group I reckon
:poke: :fuelfire:

Average ( or more accurately mean ) is the total number of scores added together divided by the number of scores........ youth of today. *shakes head sadly*
The mode might be more useful.
Anyway, I am old woman going through mid life crises ;). It was this or have an affair, and I can't be bothered with the latter and wouldn't have enough energy anyway  :driving:
As for greeting others and being greeted back. I always flash my lights or wave, rarely do I get any response back - that's Leicestershire drivers for you !

The fact I am doing a Mechanical Engineering and Maths degree currently I would beg to differ, average and mean two sides of a coin and two words for the same thing, yes I agree mean is the more mathematically correct terminology but less "conversation" friendly than average. And by me joining the group and being younger I will lower the average or mean age.

The mode is of no statistical value what so ever, the mode is the value that appears most often in a set of data. So for example at a guess there may be 15 people who are 35, this is the most common value and therefore the modal value. I wouldn't affect the mode age only the average or mean age and possibly the range if I am the new "youngest person" :poke: The youth rebel as usual

At least this clearly demonstrates that the majority of Z4 (E89) owners on here are *relatively* intelligent! :D

I always wave to other Zeds regardless of their flavour and rarely get a response apart from the young lady who I used to see on my drive into work. Waved at her for weeks until finally she gave me a 'monkey shake' wave.
Haven't seen her since so I can only assume it was her parting wave from Z4 ownership.
Btw I've been in a mid-life crisis for the past 30 years and enjoyed every minute so I must fit to type... :D

No one uses the mode when determining who the AVERAGE age of drivers for a particular car. Everyone uses the mean. Mode is the number that occurs the most, so how is that significant in terms of finding something like this out? Plus, he was correct. At 19, he does bring the average age down. Although he and I are outliers in a large sample size, we still put a slight skew on the results.

*shakes head sadly*

Actually if you really want to talk descriptive statistics and which are appropriate, which measure of central tendency you use depends on what kind of data you have and whether it follows a normal distribution patterns, i.e. 95% of the scores fall within 2 standard deviations of the mean, it is not skewed and there are no outliers. In a normal distribution curve incidentally, the mean, mode and median all fall in the same place - so it wouldn't matter. Everyone (whoever they might be) does in fact NOT use the mean.
There can be more than mode, e.g. bimodal, which gives this measure more meaning.
In the above example with thousands of member, one low score would not bring the mean down by any significant amount.
Anyway, back to the point of my earlier post which was merely banter, rather than serious attempt at teaching statistics....

Youngsters like fast cars I get that had some fast cars all my life but when you get older I am 60yrs young in October you still like them if its your thing, i still get a thrill giving it some you just mellow a bit a bit like sex. 8)

However small the amount, it's still there. Put simply, you were wrong. There's a reason you always see and hear "the average number of" instead of "the mode of". Maybe it's different in England, but I'm pretty sure you still use averages out there.

Anyway.

Interestingly enough, the AVERAGE age of Z4 owners is around 35. Surprisingly low...

I raise the average sexiness of z4 drivers by 40% x
