Shame to have to sell, but good reason

On the advert May I suggest you take some Summer photos as those bare trees look like you've been trying to sell for 6 months and majke them look attractive. Sell the dream Sunny day roof and windows down.

Why state petrol - they all are?
'inc. steering wheel' I'm sure you mean it's also leather, but again they all are.

State the interior finish - alloy, wood, etc.
Number of owners if low.
Make the full dealer service more prominent and add an interior shot too.

Just my 2 p worth if it helps

Well it's a good enough reason for selling the Z4.
Although one of many reasons i don't ever want kids, they determine what car you can and can't have  If i ever did accidently have one it would have to go in the boot (at least it would drown out the crying that way  )

Maybe you could put your reason for selling in the advert. As a lot of people may be interested to know why. And in my opinion your reason doesn't get any better for selling such a great car.

Looks a pretty good advert, although I'd probably flesh it out a little. A couple of suggestions: -

There's a typo; "trim" is written "tirm".

As CJ suggested, updated photographs. I'd suggest two opposing three-quarter views (nearside front and offside rear) roof and windows down, a random one of a different angle with the roof up (showing that it works and you're not hiding anything) one of the interior and maybe a closeup of a wheel showing good conditon.

In terms of listing specification, I favour a list of the optional stuff first (serious buyers will know the standard spec and be looking for certain options) and then highlights of the standard equipment. Also, perhaps a brief list of the official performance figures, or maybe a link to them elsewhere on the web.

I'd also use the official terminology for things ("Black Oregon Leather", "Double-spoke Style 103 17" alloy wheels"). It suggests you know about the car and know how to look after it.

Again, as CJ said I'd labour the full BMW service history (and write it in full so there's no mistake). In the past I've seen adverts with a photograph of a pile of dealer invoices, so that might be an idea (but take precautions against personal information theft; obscure any addresses, VIN numbers, payment details, etc., or make the picture sufficiently small such that you can't read anything on the invoices).

are you serious or just joking?

Serious i think! I don't want kids for many reasons, but i also hate the fact that they determine what car you can and can't have, would piss me off something chronic not being able to use the Z4 and then having to sell because you can't fit the kid in.

Car over kids for me :P

 Completely agree, i have no maternal instinct towards children, i do have an people carrier (hoping it dies soon so i can get an X5) for the dog and moving stuff around, so i would have a vehicle for a child, if i had one to put in it. Did have my steps sisters 2 year old in there the other day, but a 30 min journey seemed like days  If i had a kid I could not afford to run an M, expensive little items, children that is, an M seems like a bargain in comparison.

Fortunatly my partner is child phobic as well, he has even less love for the little ones than me, there are lots of reasons why i would not have one either but the car i can drive, or afford to drive is certainly one of them.

I am sure if you have got one, they are the best things in the world, but i have no intentions of finding out whether that is true or not.

Not necessary. I will keep my Z4 and buy another 4-door BMW to transport children.

Could not agree more with that! I have absolutely no maternal instincts whatsoever. I would rather have an awesome car

Your lucky if you can do that but not everyone would be able to. Some would be forced to sell the Z4 to purchase a more practical car for all the family.

Or some would be sort of forced to sell it after they realised they can only use it about once a month because of the kid.

A 7-year-old E46 is not expensive to buy and run. I will always drive my Z4 to work everyday. :driving:

I have 3 kids, 5, 2 and 1 and a Z4....obviously the wife has a Scenic for when we all go out!

Cheers for the feedback all, the add has been updated.

The Z is going as is the Aygo city car - its *too* small now.

Replacing them with a new leased golf GT for the family and a (much) older 996 C2 for me.. and the kid/wife if needs be so not all gloom and doom. TBH the novelty of a soft top had run its course so time for a change anyway.

Congrats on the pending arrival - I'm in the same boat. Only a few weeks for me...very exciting :D

But my Z has to go too - can't justify/afford the costs of keeping it and getting another run around car :( I've been avoiding it for some time, maybe hoping I wouldn't need to if I didn't think about it

Congrats on the kiddie on the way. That's not a bad compromise! I'd quite happily change from a Z4 to a 996 C2.

Like a lot of folk here, I'm not interested in kids - neither me nor the wife are paternalistic in the least – at the moment. I’ll never say never but the desire isn’t there at the moment. I appreciate "them" for what they are, but both our work and personal lifestyles aren't best suited to kiddies and – perhaps some see it as selfish – we don’t want kids to change our lifestyles. I don't mind them at all having grown up with my mum working as an in-house childminder, but they ain’t for me. I personally think the UK's going up sh*t creek anyway and don't feel happy introducing and subjecting anyone else to this country! My wife's brilliant with kids though due to her work (A+E doc) but still refers to them - and more often the parents - as "little sh*tes" :D

Fine by me :)
