jamie.....lets do a vmax day.... your m5 vs my z4mr-sc !!!! you have 40bhp more.......... i have a large weight advantage....... i reckon it'll be dead even, and down to the driver.

now that would be an interesting race ;-)

byron

Byron,

That is a great idea, and would be good fun more importantly.

Weight has no bearing on Vmax (unless you run out of runway) -- it's all down to power vs drag. Cd on an M5 is a lot better than a Z4 (I think around 0.25 for the normal 5-series, probably a bit more for the M, vs about 0.35-0.4 for the Z). But OTOH the Z4 will have a smaller frontal area and maybe less mechanical drag due to smaller tyres.

dont be confused by the term vmax day,,,,, we will be accelerating from 30mph upto vmax...... lighter weight + more power = quicker aceleration to vmax speed......... no-one stated being lighter gives you a higher vmax speed?????

beedub are you able to get decent traction away from the line in the dry ?

:driving:

if its really warm not to bad...... 1st will spin, 2nd you can hear the tyres chirping as you accelerate ;-)

you can modulate it very wel and move off the line crazy quick BUT..... i prefur runs from 30-130, a great indication of power and stress free for the drivetrain, mecanical sympathy is very important imo for the longevity of any vehicle.

i actually would love to see the general 0-60 scrapped and a 30-130 time introduced, its shows much more of a car performance.......
