The Worlds Worst Pub Crawl (aka Hadrians Wall Walk)

In answer to your question Metal licker we have all been doing some training, Nosa and Jamie have been off walking in the hills whereas mine due to be being away on business until just before the walk itself has all been gym based, but fundraising has stalled and we need to get back out there and try raise some more interest which I know isn't easy with everyone feeling the pinch at the moment.
That said when I was home recently I did manage to get out and do 2 walks of over 10 miles carrying a pack in weighing about 25lbs which is around what I hope the packs will weigh for the walk itself.
I personally found the walking relatively easy, well at least until I stopped and seized up. The following day being a constant stream of Ooooohs and Arrrrghs every time I moved. It is this stiffness that is going to be the problem for the 4 days we now hope to complete the walk in as we fully intend to make use of the long summer evenings.
Nosa also has the brilliant idea that because the Gulf Stream has returned to its normal course the wind is blowing West to East so we should walk in that direction.

I have started a blog that I intend to update over the walk with our locations and maybe a few photos a long the route.

Best of luck with the training Richard i hope it gets a bit easier
As for following Nosa's advice, what could possible go wrong :? :D

Hey guys how is the walking going? I keep thinking of Carl and how well all need to have a few "life is too short" moments, cos sadly sometimes it is.

I have three friends currently with cancer. Two prostate and one skin. The guy with Skin cancer is 30 and his wife is expecting their first child in two weeks time.

It's a shitty thing to happen to anyone and I hope the walking is going well

Nosa's been out doing quite a lot, even spending the odd night under canvas in preparation.
Not sure just how much Jamie's been doing.
I've had to settle for hitting the gym 3 - 4 times a week, I'm stuck at an airport hotel and not sure where it is even safe to walk, especially as after a rain storm the other day a couple of moccasin snakes made themselves comfortable by the front door.

Still a little over 4 weeks to go and we'll find out if any of us have done enough preparation.

Judging by pics I've seen on Facebook, they've started. I saw a pic of them all having a pint after 8 miles and then nothing since! :?

They've done 66miles and doing the last 18 today as far as I can see on Facebook. Well done boys

As some of you have noticed and mentioned we have updated our Facebook profiles a couple of times during the walk but to say network coverage was patchy is an understatement and couple that with some necessary Battery conservation and.....

The 3 of us met up in Carlisle on Friday morning, by the time we had caught the bus to the start line and settled our nerves with Cake & Hooch meant it was 11:15 before we set off.

Sunday morning led us straight in the the ups & downs of the crags and onto a location made famous in 'Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves'.

Monday morning left us with approx 18 miles to go and after a special breakfast of SuperNoodles and Pasta we were on our way. By the time we hit the Quayside in Newcastle 3 very tired and sore people were in striking distance of the finish line, but it could have been another 1000 miles the way we were all feeling.

A burst of energy from somewhere saw us crossing the finish line about 16:20 and on the train home by 16:45.

A selection of photos taken over the walk (in no particular order)

The walk itself was a harder challenge than I at least thought it would and we all had a wobble of varying degrees at some point but with some cajoling, some sheer bloody mindedness we all made it. It was a great 4 days mixed with Laughter and pain all held together by 3 mates who had nothing in common but a humble motor car.
