The wonders of hill assist-

Hi all been away for a few days in the Yorkshire dales, the zed performed greater than i expected for a 2.0,the boot swallowed all our luggage, charged up hills in 5th and 6th gear, couple of moments around blind corners with tractors coming down the hill assist came in VERY handy-all this and managed to get the top down!

On facelift cars if you press the brake whilst in gear and clutch down, it will hold on the brakes for a few seconds while you move off. It's good!

How clever, didn't know they did that.

Not that mine does, I'm a hard nut with a pre-facelift lol

can this feature be retrofitted to a pre-facelift?
Hahaha always on the hunt for new mods eh Levi? :D

I would expect that it's purely an ECU software thing. If I understand correctly pre-facelift has all of the requirements there: ABS (to hold on the brakes), brake pedal sensor, clutch pedal sensor (both of which are used to disengage the cruise control). Oh but we probably don't have the incline sensor (I wonder if it's the same one the alarm uses)...

Glad you've explained how it works I've been wondering. I'm used to auto's now so hill starts are something I have to get used to again - off to practise :)

We have an incline sensor too. Used for DSC.

I only just discovered this the other day after I had a VW hire van which had hill control and thought i woudl see if my car had it too. It does. :D

lol pretty much, I think I have done everything now except an afe intake & the quad conversion - which will be happening soon, I mean there is always performance mods but since there is no track within 1000km's of here I don't see the point.

this just seemed like a nice little extra, not that I need it at all, living on a steep hill for years I have perfected the hill start, but this forum is always putting ideas in my head 8)

Since all the parts seem to be there it sounds tempting, but the facelift cars have a different engine, So i'm thinking it might be a bit more involving than in ecu flash...
