The Vacation Thread

I'm cautious of any tourist destination East and west, always travel light with anything of importance in a locked backpack

If you want to see some/all the tourist sites then maybe give the city tour bus a go.....numerous buses run all day in a figure of eight, hop on/off whenever.Cable car looks good for pics, etc although I haven't been on it.Down to the beach front & Med/harbour perhaps.Heard the nightlife's good and all night although I haven't experienced that either.......I'd have to sleep half the day to be out drinking until 5am!!
Ramblas had the pick pocket reputation but in reality most big cities can be prone to this in tourist season so just take your normal precautions and enjoy the vibe.

6wks on Wed we'll be in Mexico (never been) staying at the Excellence Riviera Cancun in Puerto Morelos.

Can't bloody wait. It's adults only and the 'boss' has upgraded the room to a swim up room. Roll on May 4th.

She's 50 in Sept and we are trying to rack our brains for ideas of where to go out of the UK for a week. Suggestions welcome folks.

Venice is a great location for a few days. Sep will be nice temp but less crowds than the summer highs

We were there 4yrs ago and to my amazement, I loved the place. You're right, it's lovely for a few days. The food was just epic!!

We do fancy returning to Italy again, this could be that time. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.

Iceland blue lagoon, Italy Venice, or Germany for suggestions

Have a great trip in Mexico - I loved the food there :P

Thank you, we will.

The food is what I'm looking forward to as the hotel and resort gets great reviews for all kinds of cuisines.

What's the choice of weapon :driving: for the Americas sir?

Probably a jeep something or other. Just a fly drive hack. Tried a mustang down highway 1 a few years ago and felt SUV was the way to go.

Nothing exciting, sorry

Mind you I'm am hoping to get to Custer, Devils mountain, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, ..........

Taking my camera though

Definitely not worth the corvette then lol, they love suv s over there huge massive wagons. Looking forward to the photos

Going to Barcelona for a weekend jaunt in mid April then off to Florida for 2 weeks at the end of May! First time either me or the g/f have been abroad in almost 6 years so can't wait.
We were going to drive up to Edinburgh in the zed and tour down the east coast of scotland past small village where I grew up (near Haddington), but that has been postponed until later in the summer.

Been to Munich already for a long weekend and planning a road trip for July.
After the poor Zed's never managed to get any further than Towcester or Littlehampton, we thought we'd plan a road trip in the Audi.

Heading down to Lake Garda via Frankfurt, Munich (to see friends) and some nice roads and then back via Lucerne, Strasbourg and maybe Brussells to Dunkirk and ferry home. S5 has only done 8000 miles and its a year old now so thought it was time to get some tarmac under the wheels.

Sounds like a great trip you've got planned there - I'm sure the S5 will eat up the miles :driving:
What are the performance figures for your S5 btw?

Norway again. The place has stolen my heart a bit.
Any particular location/tourist must-sees in Norway Carol M?

I started this thread to gain some ideas for future reference and by golly there are plenty excellent ones already, I didn't expect them :)

Hopefully so and it will be nice to use it as it was intended, rather than just trundling to work and to the supermarket and the odd run out at the weekend.

Performance wise, 328bhp & 440nm of torque, 0-62 in 4.9 seconds. We get late 20's (mpg), when pottering around here and to work, smidge lower for smaller trips. So if it averages somewhere near the 30 mark on our trip I will be pleased. It's a big old lump after all so not expecting masses of efficiency. 8)
