Hey everyone, I just bought a Merlot 2003 3.0i, low Klm's. 6 speed, Sports pkg. LOVE IT!
By the end of the safety I had new front brakes, new Bridgestone RF's, engine oil was changed too. Roof motor was changed two years ago.
Well I thought I'd check the air filter.....to my surprise it was an original 2002 filter! BMW date stamped, tonight I checked the cabin filter aswell....guess what...2002!
Looking forward I think I should be fine but my question is 'Am I missing something obvious to look into? I feel it too early to check the transmission fluid.
Thanks for the help!
Happy motoring.
Steve.

Hey Steve. I bought mine just under a year ago and the first ting I did was all the oils - engine, gearbox and diff. Mine was very low mileage when I got it (36,500 km) but felt this was the sensible thing to do. Turned out the diff oil was probably original (bit like your filters!) as it was all milky.

I am sure the rest of the crew will have a lot more to offer up too

Hi Steve welcome along, rare merlot colour 3.0 zed is a nice choice  We do like to see photos on here as I'm sure you'll find out. Youll find plenty of info and advice on this forum.

Thank you for the suggestions. Next time I am in I'll have the Service Tech do the fluids including the anti-freeze coolant. I'll post some pics when I have a chance.
Cheers.

I replaced my brake fluid the other day. It was 2 and a half years old. It was gross! Especially at the front callipers. Do it. Also do the transmission and differential. Cheap, nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain. If only for piece of mind.

My coolant will be dealt with in not too long

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Definitely worth replacing the fluids if you don't know how long they have been in the car.

Looking forward to seeing it!
