"The Train" a great film

I recently bought a DVD of this 1964 film with Burt Lancaster and Paul Schofield and forgot what a great film this is, shot in black and white as it should be, all about the Nazis shipping out French works of art and the resistance putting a stop to it.

Some great scenes.

Allied bombing raid, I don't know if true but they supposidly blew up an old French railway station that the Authorites wanted clearing for redevelopment, filmed in real time with I'm guessing with dynamite, no special effects here, love the wrist watch shot at the start.

Always been a film that stayed in my memory - particularly whenever I see a building looking like the French house he lived in, it brings me straight back to that film - delighted to see it highlighted on here.

Agree, a great film and one of my favorites in my collection of DVR's and would not work as well had it been shot in color.

I love a good WWII film so thanks for the heads up on this one. I have heard of it but never seen it and on the strength of those clips I am definitely going to order a copy.
