The Super-Rich and Us.

A BBC programme and possibly one of the most biased programmes / examples of journalistic reporting I've seen for a long time.

Isn't the BBC supposed to be impartial etc? I'd love to see a balanced review along the same lines, but this programme is effectively drivel.

It's a shame as it has made some good points, but by taking so much out of context the arguments presented are really half baked.

Just finished watching it as well and totally agree, a completely biased and one sided excuse of a program.

i am self employed and have always been of the thinking that low tax for all is fairest, i am not a high earner but always thought it the politics of envy to tax wealthy people at a higher rate.didnt see all the program but i can see the point that the trickle down thinking hasnt worked and the property market if the program is to be believed is heavily weighted in favour of the better off. most of us on here , own or have mortgages on a property. but imagine life without that equity , trying to get a huge seemingly almost impossible deposit together to be able to get on the housing market. that must be depressingly daunting for young people / couples today. many of the super rich pay little or no tax because they have the means and knowledge to avoid paying it by exploiting complex loopholes.I have been watching a bit of russel brand's rantings and whilst bloody annoying at times andcoming accross as a bit of a prat, at least he is doing what he believes and trying to educate the masses in just how much some mega high earners take the piss where their tax is confirmed. eg , sir phillip green, paid himself in one recent year a 1.2 billion pound dividend yet managed not to pay any personal tax on it as his company Top Shop is "owned" by his wife , who "lives" in monaco, if true, then that is the sort of thing the government need to get on top of. maybe it is time to look at higher rates of tax for the massively wealthy, i dont mean people earning 50 or 100 k but people earning say maybe 500k to 1000,000 should really have no issues with paying 40% flat rate on those sort of earnings, the current 40% hits way too many mid earners, and imo shouldnt come in until way way more. 20% of a persons earnings is more than enough to be taken away by the goverment and for them then to waste probably half of that . obviously this hasnt been costed or run by an economist so probably legitimate reasons why it cant or wont be implicated, i expect there will be some well educated armchair fiscal policy brains on here to shed some light on it . :?

couldnt watch it. i would just get massively pissed off. rather be happy and ignorant that exposed to that type of shite.

Typical BBC politically biased programme again, had to switch it off.
I neither agree nor disagree on BBC Bias, but we pay a licence fee for this

But at the end of the day there are 100's of other channels we could watch, so it's no big deal with me

[the remote control is your friend  ]

then stop paying for it. simple.

I stopped paying for it in 2013 and have not once wished I hadn't.
I use bbc IPlayer, 4OD, ITVonDemand, Netflix and the occasional download to get everything I want from tv.

I can watch stuff on iPlayer usually a minute or two after it's ended on live tv, so it's not like I'm miles behind either.

best decision I've ever made - and only ever had two letters from the tv licensing - one to confirm they cancelled my direct debit and another to confirm they received my letter stating I no longer watch live tv, do not require their license, and remove their permission to access my property.
