:driving:

I am thinking about setting up and whippy sanctuary and re-homing centre for all of those poor displaced whippy aerials. We should all remember that a whippy is for life!

Car looks nice (if I ignore the stubby!)

Oh you poor chap, your Ae is bust. Hope you get it fixed soon.

On the plus side, you may no longer be able to listen to Nick Grimshaw in the morning.

Well the car is currently 1000 miles away so unlikely unless I use the 4G streaming...which I do. Quite funny listening to radio 1 driving around Zagreb and Vienna!

I haven't noticed a reduced signal.

On FM the external aerial only switches in when the one in the rear bumper is getting poor signal, so if you are in a good reception area you will have no problem............
other than looking wrong :poke:

Where did you buy the stubby from?

I bought mine from here cerbera last week and it arrived within 48hrs from these guys http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331700424882?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Looks loads better than the whippy it replaced, no change to my radio reception.

Some clumsy car wash guy broke my stubby yesterday, I didn't notice until I got back home. Useless trying to complain, they will only say it wasn't them! It was left bent at an angle with just an internal wire holding it all together.

I took it off and refitted the whippy until I decide if I should get a new stubby or not.

Both the whippy and stubby are official PSA parts ;-) Yes, our car has Peugeot parts on it. In fact, large parts of the radio system is PSA.

My friend who works at PSA got me mine for £5, it comes from a Pug 607 originally. I can dig out the part number if you are interested ...

Stubbies just look like a broken whippy ! :D
The whip antenna makes the Z4 look like a buggy or a toy car (in a bad way) as well as dated. Actually when other Z4 owners see my car one of the first things they notice is my stubby and I can tell that they can't wait to change theirs.

FM signal is the same, but the TV signal definitely is worse. I used to be able to watch E4, BBC etc even in the McDonalds parking lot but now I only get signal when I'm in residential areas and even then it's pretty jumpy.

stuartinzg have you considered getting your roll hoops painted black, if you did then your zed would be fully murdered out.

Silly question....

I see a number of "stubby" antenna masts for sale on EBay to fit my E89 Z4...everything from 10" down to 1", (give or take). Is there a 'normal' or preferred stubby length most use? I assume that the shorter antennas give worst results reception-wise, but am curious what most use.

Thoughts?
