The snow starts!!!

Sars, hard to tell from the angle but those snow tyres don't look out of place on the Zed, i always had the impression there would be a big difference in the look of the car.(more tyre height being my point). I get so used to seeing low profiles on cars these days sometimes more conventional tyres look out of place.
Really impressive that you got to where you did with them ! Makes me wish i had done the same, with the risk of more snow, apparently, i'm not looking forward to the drive out of our village again. December 2010 i actually didn't make it up the last 20' of the hill into the village and had to abandon the car and my pride along with it
PS i didn't eschew snow tyres because of the look i hasten to add, cost and/or the rigmarole of looking around to find wheels on line etc. was the reason; lazy i know and yes i probably will regret it :roll:

The tyres just look like normal tyres, unless you inspect them reasonably closely, they just appear a little chunkier. 17" rims can be had relatively cheaply and a set of winter tyres for about £450 so it doesn't have to cost a fortune and in reality the long term costs are negligible.

If you keep a car for 3 years, complete 12,000 miles a year you are going to have to replace your rears twice probably. I reckon you could get away with just one change if you spent 4-5 months on Winters per year and swap these front to back each year.

If after 3 years you can sell what's left of the winter tyres and the alloys you will probably end up with a small loss. I would also suggest that you don't have a staggered set up on winters go with 225's all round (that way you can swap them round)

This is how my logic sold them to me anyway, plenty of in head discussions in the bath

Sorry, don't get to Maidstone, if i go that far North i start to get a nose bleed and i'm not sure my passport is in date, i'd hate to be turned back at the border and refused entry for not having more than 3 months before passport renewal :wink:

I was born near Maidstone, in a place called Loose.....yes I've heard it all before guys

Then moved North to Cheshire, saw the light and moved East to Yorkshire have been here twenty years and for all intense and purpose I am a Yorkshire lass at heart.
