Hi, my friends!
Z4 E85 late 2003 with M54B30 engine.
Everything would be fine, but the roof refuses to work.
How it was:
I arrived home and began to fold the roof. In parallel with raising the roof, I decided to raise the windows to about 80 percent closure :headbang:. And at the moment when the windows moved up, the roof stopped, stopped about 10 centimeters before completely closing. A small red (precisely red, not orange) light blinked and nothing, the roof did not react at all. I closed the roof manually and went about my business.
Today I decided to check the status and the red light is still constantly blinking from the moment I turned on the ignition. Absolutely no reaction to pressing (the roof motor and locks are silent).
I ask my friend to read the fault codes and found that there were power errors C142 and C145 and the roof was in a locked state. As I understand it, these are microswitches located on the left roof lock near windshield.
Comrades, I need your help with the following questions:
1. Could this be caused by the fact that I started raising the windows when the roof was closing? And perhaps this blockage on roof manipulation can be reset somehow?
2. Having searched for information about the errors found, I found that microswitches C142 and C145 are located quite deep in the front part of the roof. I couldn't find information on how to get there, maybe you have something that can help me?
3. Are there other things I can check before disassembling the roof to get to C142 and C145 switches? I'll try to check the fuses in the glove box soon.
P.S. The previous owner moved the roof motor into the trunk and I have easy access.
P.S.S In addition, I cannot find the small contact that is located in the middle of the trunk wall, signaling the position of the trunk lid. Could it be that the previous owner simply short-circuited it or moved it? Should I pay attention there?
Many thanks to everyone who will help! I've read enough forum posts that I'm not sure where to go next at this point.
