So having sold my Z4MC to Tom last month and paying off all my debts I went back to my VW roots and bought a MK2 golf! Its a bit special having a 1.9 16v supercharged engine that should be good for 300bhp once I have fettled it a bit more. Anyway some pics.

Nope this is purely a summer car, should be a good bit of fun. I love working on these things, they are a giant mechano kit!
 
Lovely, and it's an early one too (edit: actually, it looks like a later shell but either way :thumbsup:) what are the plans for it?

Love the recaros, almost look like the rallye versions at a glance! Interesting setup on the supercharger too-is that a 1.8t plenum or something else? Must be bloody quick too, does it have an lsd?

How have you found going from the z4 to the mk2? I always used to feel like I'd 'come home' whenever I got back into mine but it's been so long now that I've almost forgotten what it's like :cry:

The recaros are fully electric late spec items with the bolsters retrimmed in leather. The supercharger has ben ported and is running a toothed belt setup with a charge cooler feeding into a shortened audi s2 manifold for a short boost run. It should be near 300bhp when I have it mapped on 440cc injectors and I install an oil cooler. It doesn't have an LSD but I feel it may need one soon! Nothing comes close to how the Z went TBH it was an epic thing and I wont have anything quite like it again which makes me sad... But I do love fiddling with old golfs and this will be quicker than the Z (when I can get the power down!).
 
Love it :thumbsup: I have great memories of the two early MK2 8valves I owned in the early 1990's
 
Had a red mk2 golf 8v when I was young and it took any amount of punishment as well as transporting the dog ,gplf bats , SWMBO and a few other things . Wonderful car .
 
Sounds like a sound plan and a sound result, loving the Golf, just fix the suspension. :wink:

Proper airlift struts with digital management. Great piece of kit 8 preset heights and individual bag adjustment from a remote! Makes it a bit more usable for the roads around here.

Bit of mad month! Managed to get most of the bits done on the mk2 ready for a meet I organize with a few mates here are some pics of how it currently sits.
