The red roof cable / cord cable

After thinking I had a dead roof motor for the past year I've just tried it on the off-chance and discovered that it's still *somewhat* alive. It makes a noise, put it that way, which is way more than it's done before now.

The roof doesn't move at all, but then I remembered about the cables in the boot which I pulled when I first had the problem.

How do you reseat / reset these things?

This allows you to manually move the roof, right?

What a sad droopy looking thing.

The red pull cord should be pushed all the way in. Yours is not seated properly. I think the black pull cord is to unlock the latches that lock the roof down. Not really sure bout that though, oh the red ring should be horizontal to allow it to re seat.

Cheers, tug

Bit disappointing - was hoping you'd recommend giving it a 'tug' :D

It's something to do with unlocking the centre console in case of electrical failure (?). Im sure the manual petrol flap override is somewhere in the panel at the rear where the brake lights are. Though I could be mistaken.

Anyone know how to reset this floppy mess of a cable? :P I did try and look in the centre console for a clue but short of removing things I dont know how to get it back in place. :headbang:

Looking at my users handbook the position of that red handle is wrong. It says pull the handle and turn 90 degrees until it engages. It looks like yours is still in the open position and just needs turning pack so that the fingerhole is positioned downwards. That pullcord releases the stowage compartment between the seats and the button for releasing the soft top. I would pull the lever again between the seats and ensure the stowage compartment is properly closed.
