Just having a clear up of the hard drives on shop PC, and came across this, from Summer 2012..

It's my Brother's (then new) GSXR 1000 after he hit a car, overtaking on a bend - His fault...

He pretty much cut the bike in two. Was in hosp for 2 weeks, and in plaster for 8.. He then went out and bought another brand new Gixer thou, and a week later managed ( and I don't know how to this day) to write that one off, by hitting one of the large concrete blocks on the approach to the Birkenhead tunnel toll booths.. That one wasn't caught on video, and he was straight back in hospital..

My god Mike, that's destroyed. Looks like it hadn't happened that long before the film was taken, looking at the steam still coming from the car :|

The footage was taken by a rider that was out with him, he was further down the road with others, and they were waiting for the police/ambulance.

Glad he's ok Mike, but it does sound like it's more than just him.
My brother is similar, he's well in to double figures the number of times he's come off, mainly by himself. That said his bike also handles like sh*te.

I ride a lot, and whilst being taken off this year for the first time in 5 years, it was still a 0mph impact and the guy had just run 2 red lights (one to hit me and apparently the one before as well) on a big roundabout.
 
That looks serious, I guess he came off before the bike hit.

Oh, he hit it alright, and was thrown over the roof. His mates reckon he came around the bend at 130+ and seeing as the corsa actually cut the bike in two, I reckon the car wasn't doing 30mph either..

Couple of pieces of gaffer tape will have that up on auto trader. :wink:

So does your brother still ride a bike then? Twice lucky is pushing it more than enough.

Well you can only wish him good luck with that then. I have know plans to finish my days dribbling in a nursing home, but there are limits to my insanity.
 
That video is a fucking scary 30 secs - glad he’s alive, but he’s not helping himself...

It’s easy to forget how fast stuff goes wrong when you’re travelling at speed, in any type of vehicle.
 
oof thats a bad one , I keep the lairy bike riding to the track or strip . Only had one bad off on the road , student days despatch riding in glasgow , ended up lying across the drivers lap inside a golf after he pulled out on me up by the Solid Rock cafe . Was an old CB400/4 , it was mint ..it was suddenly very not mint .

Who did you work for in Glasgow?
I was a courier for years starting with Direct Despatch and moving on to Pony Express around 1990.
Funnily enough I had an accident across the road from The Solid while filtering between cars, someone parked up opened the passenger door.

Apollo , blue jacket , blue bag , yellow writing .. . CB400/4..killed ... then a CB650 . Then I got a place on a ice class trawler as engineer, with them offering to pay for the rest of my studies ... and my despatch career was over . It was one wet job that in Scotland , I reckon I was borderline hypothermia more than once on long runs lol
