I have an app on my iPad for a website called thechive.com. It's a global (though US-based) community, mainly younger people, dedicated to Keeping Calm and Chiving On - basically enjoying life, living it to the full and passing on happiness where you can. I'll be honest, I mostly look at it for the perty gurls, funny / stupid / awesome photos, and general humour portrayed. However, every once in a while you come across something that blows you away, a demonstration of the incredible generosity of people, and it's humbling.
Their charity fund helped out a young family with 4 year old triplets, one of whom has a debilitating and rare disorder - initially they just bought them a bigger MPV to get around in. Then the chap from the Chive sees their home - which is tiny - and decides more should be done. The family sets up a fundraising page to raise cash to extend their home and sets a target of $30k - they did this yesterday. The Chive published it and put an appeal out ; about half an hour in they bust $30k ; looking just a few minutes ago the total is now $146k. How cool is that ? It is only one child, in one family, and it's not millions, but it will change their lives and I think it's one of the most touching, awesome acts of kindness I have seen in some time.

Donation page - which explains little Griffin's illness in the family's own words and in more detail here : http://www.gofundme.com/2pb2cg
Just though I'd share as it hit a chord for some reason.
