I had this happen to mine after picking my car up from the main dealer, guess they lent on it when replacing the screen.
It can pop out of the pivots inside or crack and need glueing. If I recall correctly you can pop off that panel and gain access to the lever, there are some fixings at the bottom edge inside the cubby hole if i recall correctly which need to be undone first.
