The perils of an auto...

The Legend
 Exiled Scot in Maidstone
Like a perfect storm....

Pulled up in the drive, distracted by replying to email about a job, notice I'd put the back on my tax disc holder upside down...

...send email, jump out heading rearward to go round and fix the tax disc...

...realise the car is movingFUCKI'VELEFTITINDRIVE !!!... Jump back in with one leg, left foot on brake but not before the car hits the garage door :o

Garage door was well bent, about 8 inches inward at the bottom, but it's a cheapo fibreglass one on a metal frame and the fibreglass didn't break. Some careful bending and a lot of swearing later and to the casual observer there's nowt wrong with it. Oh, and the car is fine - two little white marks on the bumper between the grilles which came right off. Think the licence plate took the brunt (if you're a serious observer rather than casual you may spot an imprint on the garage door...)

Thought that might give you all an early morning laugh #whatafeckineejit

Thought that you were going to say that you got all 'confused' and hit the throttle rather than brake and shot through someone's garden wall :P

Bit like this

nothing to laugh at there bing

except the panic
:)

I have noticed my latest auto drops a gear when slowed by an incline and then accelerates.
barking design.

Oops, but glad all is well. I saw a guy in an auto merc the other day do just the same thing when trying to get out of his car to swipe an entry gate sensor.

Luckily, on the e89 at least, the car goes straight into park if you try to leave the car while there's a possibility of it moving from a standstill.

Not sure if people will be able to view this, but if you can have a listen, made me laugh

er, how did you manage to get out with leaving it in park? surely your not saying you jump out and left it in drive

i feel for you mate!!

I did something similar some time ago - got to a service station, jumped out the car and walked away. i came back and an RAC guy was near my car - he put a block in front of my front wheel - he said the car was rolling away!!!!

This I did - and momentum was taking me in the opposite direction to the one the car was going in as I wanted to head round the back to the other side... Remember, slim I ain't, so getting out the car happens in one graceful, fluid but torque-packed motion :D

Lol at 'spritely'' Ruby - very generous of you

(mental note to never drive in a cruise between Bing and Ruby then :D )

You drove fine behind me earlier in the year, just don't get in front and in my way

That is what I meant. With Ruby going backwards on hills and you going forward whilst you two are having a chat, the car in between would be sandwiched :)

:o

I remember seeing a vid of a woman in an X5 in snow earlier this yr did this.. to push her car.... well.. she didnt have quite such a happy ending

Glad its all alright Bing!

Good job you're so lithe and as fast as a Roadrunner, Bing.
