The parking gods were looking down on me today

Very nice Bing, however someone could chuck something from a distance into the bin nearby that might overshoot or ricochet and hit your car.....
and that lamp post doesn't look too sturdy

Have to say although good spots there is some terrible terrible parking! No wonder BMW drivers get a bad name!

I don't have a problem with using up 2 spaces - averages say you're at some point going to park next to some inconsiderate "door flinger" or the "kiddy carrier ultimate door slinger 1000" who take no notice of how close they've parked to you and BANG there goes some of your paint and a repair bill.

It's a vicious circle, as there will always be someone out there to call you an asshole for taking up too spaces, but all you're trying to do is protect you own property for inconsiderate assholes.

If there is opportunity, such as Rialas above ^ I will take it, Touchwood in Solihull has a couple of spaces similar to that, but if not, I'll be looking for the safest possible, and if it means taking up 2 - so be it! :)

Surprisingly, I've found the Bull Ring in Birmingham to be one of the safest carparks, the spaces are fairly big, but in most, the majority of cars in there tend to be top motors so everyone's a bit more like minded I think...

Presumably, you pay and display 2 tickets, one for each bay? Otherwise isn't this is just as ignorant as being a scroat "door flinger"?

Maybe someone has a genuine urgent need to park, and you take up two bays? Diabetic person going hypo and needs to get to chemist? Or other urgent need.

Arrogant behaviour such as this will surely result in petty damage anyway, IMHO. Not good at best. :(

I have done yes (not every time mind you) - 'wooow we got ourselves a badass over here!'

I wouldn't say it's as ignorant at all, because the definition of ignorant is a lack of education or awareness in general, I'm perfectly aware of what I'm doing and the "door flingers" quite clearly aren't else they wouldn't do it? :D

Generally I tend to use spaces as far away as possible, if anyone urgently needs a parking space at Sainsbury's because of a medical emergency then A. they wouldn't park as far away as possible, they'd most likely park at the door, and B. it's a medical emergency, they wont be buggering about trying to park at Sainsbury's...

Like I said it's a vicious circle and there will always be someone there to call you a knob for doing it, but it doesn't really matter on the greater scheme of things does it? :)
