the parcel shelf is a seal?

Hi, this may be a stupid question but I only got my z4 today and am yet to figure a few things out.

I have a model where to activate the roof you need to first lower the parcel shelf in the boot. The guy I bought it from relayed the importance of putting it back up after the roof is returned because he said it acts as a seal. I hear a lot about water getting in and ruining the roof motor, so just wanted to check if this was accurate. Bit of a pain everytime you want to take the roof down, but something I can live with if its going to keep the boot dry.

Cheers!

No- this is definitely not the case! It is merely to create extra boot space. Did you buy your carbon April 1st? :poke:

Haha, I did think it was a bit odd. The thing is it only drops by like an inch or so when you release it so it doesn't seem like a lot of extra space?

As above. Guy was misinformed or having you on. Mine has been in the lower position for over 5 years now. Very little point in raising it. Welcome to the forum by the way. :)

Hi and welcome.

As above it only allows for adding greater space in the boot with the roof up.

If it's black and shiny and balances balls on its nose, then it's a seal. Otherwise it's not!

Welcome to the Forum.

Enjoy :driving:

Welcome to the forum, I can't believe you haven't been asked to supply photos of your car, just to prove that you really do own one

My parcel shelf only raises once a year when we go away for a week self catering - every inch of boot space is used.
Tell us a bit more about your new Zed, and why not post some pics too :)

Cheers for all your help. It's a grey 2004 2.5i with cream leather interior. I'll post a couple of pics when I get a chance to take them, unfortunately the working week is currently getting in the way of my fun!
