The original Z4M Coupe

I was in Autoworld in Brussels this morning, and was struck by the uncanny resemblance between a Maserati A6G, and the Z4 Coupe. The cars are 56 years apart, but the rear end has some distinct similarities.

Pictures posted for your perusal.

Presume you were squinting at the time

Apart from the rear arch going up by the door I can't see it myself.

Proportion of bonnet length to cabin length, roof line, kick over rear arch, overall size + some serious squinting!

Somebody please remind me how to post pictures!

Select the content of what's in the "IMG" box and then paste - like this:

I'll let you practice on the other one!

(BTW - don't really see the similarity.)

I see it, obviously it's hardly going to be identical but you could argue there are influences there in the design of the coupe:

Thank you Mr ncrossy. I was beginning to think that I must have been hallucinating with the other replies.

Tried googling for more images - this is a A6G CS.

The Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato Sanction II Coupe is similar...

Was going to say there must be hundreds of similar looking motors out there, including the E Type.

Agreed, there must be a fair few sport backs that look similar!

so... the looks of the z4c arent unique at all?

You know what....I think I'll take the maserati

Yeh, I do think the Z4MC take s alot of influences for 1950's / 60's sports coupes. I love that era of sports cars, which is why I love the looks of the Z4MC.

A few more examples:

Ferrari 250 GTO
Toyota 2000GT
Datsun 240Z

a beautiful lineage from which to draw inspiration
