The one option you can't do without!?

but do you stupidly long, boring journeys down endless motorways?
I do.. and quite frankly, sticking the cruise on 70mph for the next three hours and never having to worry about speed cameras and also knowing you're getting the "best" mpg for that speed due to the minute changes in throttle as apposed to manual adjusting... it's brilliant for that reason.
And that's why I want cruise too: most of my driving in the Z4 is A/B-road where cruise control will have limited use, but when I do go on motorways I'd like to just stick it on cruise control. Motorways are boring anyway. Plus, the fact that cruise is such a cheap and easy thing to install makes it a no-brainer for me. I'm ordering a stalk this weekend if I get to the dealer.

Keep: the soft top :D

Lose: 6-disc changer - I always forget what's in there anyway.

Want: heated seats! Never had them on any car, couldn't find a good example with them (in my budget) when buying my Z4, but I love getting the top down all-year long. Not so much for me, but I want them purely to shut the wife up - she moans about being cold with the roof down in the middle of summer

Occasionally it’s good to have at night when the roads are clear but mostly I end up having to adjust my speed as people don’t seem to be able to steer themselves into the left lane when it’s clear! Judging by the popularity though its worth as a upgrade for a more deirable resale. Up until I joined the forum I'd assumed it was standard!

Completely forgot... I did lose my CD changer!

Lose... actually going against the grain, cruise control - with lane hoggers I find it's more trouble than it's worth a lot of the time. Although it is brilliant for those damned average speed cameras. Amazed at what a popular upgrade it is with people on here.

Somebody else who doesnt rate cruise control, at last. Thought it was just me. If i didnt want to feel like im driving the car i would rather be a passenger than the driver!

Same here. Had it on my last MINI and hardly ever used it!! Not really usable in the UK these days.

Also heated seats. Had them in my last MINI and have them now. Never used them in my MINI prob never use them in the Z4! I find it uncomfortable to be honest!

(well.. imo at least :P)

You need a 5 Series!! :poke: :P

Blimey! Which motorways do you use and at what time? When I had cruse it only stayed on for around 10 min max until someone pulled out driving slower than me/braked!

Another thing I wouldn't be without now having tried it, an internal hard drive in the sound system! Much better than a CD changer! Oh, and a folding hard-top! Coupe one minuet, roadster the next! :D

I personally couldnt live without my blue teeth and parking sensors. Tough to choose which is the one to keep though. I do a lot of city driving and parking in tight spots so parking sensors are essential and also i get a lot of calls and find bluetooth extremely useful.

What i could live without? The silly extended storage option and perhaps the CD changer.

Dang. Can I have more than one?

Fog lights--they're an option here in the States-make driving on wet, dark roads less of a "taking your life in your own hands" kind of thing.

Cruise control-use this one more than all the other options.

M4..M5.. M1...M6... pretty much all of the motorways that begin with M.

And I don't want a 5 series, as when I'm not driving somewhere for work, I stick to backroads and actually enjoy the drive.
But I can't justify two cars AND two motorbikes :/ so as the Z has cruise, it makes life brilliant in those situatioins!

Heated seats! What’s all that about...... I suppose you all have hot waterbottles covered in a granny knit cover (you know the one she gave you for Christmas when you were 6 years old or so). Hot seats – like getting into a warm bed. Best addition I’ve got – illuminated sill covers, do absolutely nothing to make me go faster, can only be seen in the dark in other words totally useless (bit like the BMW sat nav option) but I love ‘em. :crazydude:

KEEP - my heated cruise control seats. 700 miles overnight on a french autoroute in the middle of winter just flies by at 160 kmh with a toasty warm toosh.

LOSE - factory satnav (if I had one that is!)...........sorry, against a £100 TomTom (even with that piece 'o shoite traffic monitoring spaghetti wire nonsense you have to wrap round your screen), thats one four-figure, out-of-date-in-five-minutes option I CANNOT get my head around for love nor money. :headbang:

Imagine: "Darling here we are on our sightseeing trip to London, I know - lets use the satnav to find our way around the back streets on our little walking tour!"

"Good idea my pet, I'll just get the Snap-On toolkit out of the boot and remove it from the dash while you go and nick a Tesco trolley to push it around in" :P

Add me to list of people who don't rate it. On the few times I have tried to use it on the motorways, the speed of the traffic varies so much it's next to useless.

what are you planning for your engine??

There is a rumour BMW may bring out a motor-sport upgrade like the one for the 335i.

Don't need it, but if it's the right price, why not, if only for the carbon intake cowl! :P

I think M-sport seats are nice. Couldn't go back now!

Heated is also nice... just a shame they do take maybe 3-4mins to get properly toasty... those first few mins are still a bit cold :D (shame there was no way to remote trigger then 5 mins before you want to drive away :) )

Keeper: Bum Warmers - not so much for my bum, but helps prevent earache from girls (and coupe owners :poke: ) with sub-zero roof down blasts :P :driving:

Looser: Rear PDC (Like CJ10Jeeper)... Whats the point when youre about 1ft from your back bumper anyway!?? All they do is cause an annoying noise and are a pain when waxing

I love the heated sports seats but would loose electric memory, load of unnecessary weight! The PDC would have indeed been a better option for the front! Don't mind the sat nav, at least nobody's going to breaK into the car and try to steal it

Keep- heated seats, you wont know how useful they are until u start using them. best for those early morning starts.
Lose- Dont have one anyway, but cruise control, my 2.5i had it maybe used 2-3 times, as people here have said cant really use them with people pulling over. Have it wife's civic hardly use it as i think it consumes more fuel than driving manually. i change my seat to M way driving and then really its not a problem. DEFINITE NO_NO to CRUISE.

I don't see how many people think cruise control can't be used... I only fitted it, what, a week ago, and already I must have used it 10/20 times!

You do get the pulling out crap.. but just slow down, wait for them to pull in, then hit the "resume" button and off you go back up to 70.
But, to be fair, it depends on where and when you use it. It'll be pointless on the M25 for sure, but on the M1, up here away from London and the likes (espec. in the 50mph zones) its on for 100% of the zone 8/10 of the times i use it.
