The one option you can't do without!?

Got into the Z this morning 5:30 with just a t-shirt on (didn't expect to stay out from last night!) and flicked on the heated seats!

BLISS - had the same in my old z3 and it got me thinking - which option do I NEED and which would I lose if I had to....

Obviously the heated seats are the things I'd keep but I dont have many other options to lose....

What about you?!

Glenn

I've had my heated seats on every day this week! I couldn't do without them now.

As for what i'd lose, i really don't know i'll have to get back to you on that one...

Sounds like there's a story there! ;)

I think heated seats for me too, closely followed by MFSW. In summer my decision changes though, the one touch roof makes me smile every time :)

Do heated seats not make you sweat in places you really don't want to?

Couldn't do with out the SMG gearbox in my car. Has made such a difference to driving. If I had to choose something to do without I might struggle as don't think my car has that many options on it? I wouldn't like to loose the Xenons. It would have to be the dipping mirror, electric seats or something along those lines.

Also, after owning my 35i for a while, the twin turbos!! :P

what BHP does your car have? is it the largest engine etc?

personally i love the heated seats, couldnt do without them.

options i would do without? dunno i havent got enough to get rid of any lol

EDIT: CRUISE CONTROL I COULDNT DO WITHOUT NOW

Nope, the seats are great! - maybe would be better if you could just select back or bottom though...

There are 3 settings in any case so you can turn them down!

(Sp3ctre - you don't want to know!)

To keep it would be the heated seats, a close second would be the carver upgraded stereo system.

To lose, without doubt would be the cruise control, used it twice in 2 years, the first time was to see if it actually worked. If i could, i would swap it anyday for the option of the mirrors to automatically drop when selecting reverse like on my E46 Coupe...why didnt they put it on the z4 ? it harder to park than the e46 due to the poorer visibility...

I actually didn't want heated seats... although can now see the point - although 4.5 degrees this morning and roof down was quite nice!

Mine would be the Dension... I love my music and it's so much easier just to have loads of albums in the glove box rather than faffing about with CDs! If you're talking OEM, probably the cup holders... without the heated seats I need a cup of coffee (mmm coffee!).

Lose... actually going against the grain, cruise control - with lane hoggers I find it's more trouble than it's worth a lot of the time. Although it is brilliant for those damned average speed cameras. Amazed at what a popular upgrade it is with people on here.

heatet seats.. couldn't ever do without them now :P

What I'd loose? the carver system. It's good, but it's not as good as the car's own soundtrack ;)

Keep: Bluetooth with MFSW. Couldn't do without that.

Lose: Hmm... I'm not sure there is anything I'd lose. Probably traction control (even though it's not optional). It's pointless.

Wish I had: Heated seats. It's the one option I wish I'd have got when I bought the car.

Sports seats for me - night and day between them and the original black armchairs. In my case electric, memory controlled and heated in red - perfect :)

Lose - easy - rear PDC, but it came with it. Shouidl have been on the front instead. Hell I could reach back and feel for any wall behind the car

I have had surgery on both knees and have metal parts in my right knee so cruise control is going to be there or It won't be a car I would have. While I can't quite put heated seats as an absolute must have option I would think long and hard about buying any car without heated seats.

Keep: The engine
Lose: The sat nav, but keep all the other gubbins including the screen, and able to play freeview and DVDs. Maybe lose the CDV too!

I like the heated seats, but if I had alcantara like my old M5, then I wouldn't have to worry about cold or hot seats as it never seemed to absorb either the heat or cold.

Somebody else who doesnt rate cruise control, at last. Thought it was just me. If i didnt want to feel like im driving the car i would rather be a passenger than the driver!

but do you stupidly long, boring journeys down endless motorways?
I do.. and quite frankly, sticking the cruise on 70mph for the next three hours and never having to worry about speed cameras and also knowing you're getting the "best" mpg for that speed due to the minute changes in throttle as apposed to manual adjusting... it's brilliant for that reason.

(well.. imo at least :P)

And that's why I want cruise too: most of my driving in the Z4 is A/B-road where cruise control will have limited use, but when I do go on motorways I'd like to just stick it on cruise control. Motorways are boring anyway. Plus, the fact that cruise is such a cheap and easy thing to install makes it a no-brainer for me. I'm ordering a stalk this weekend if I get to the dealer.

Keep: the soft top :D

Lose: 6-disc changer - I always forget what's in there anyway.

Want: heated seats! Never had them on any car, couldn't find a good example with them (in my budget) when buying my Z4, but I love getting the top down all-year long. Not so much for me, but I want them purely to shut the wife up - she moans about being cold with the roof down in the middle of summer
