I did not like the Z4 when I first saw just pics so I am with holding judgment until I actually see the car.... :?

Hmm, not sure until I see one in the metal - looks like its got a bit of a fat arse!

Can't see it being a big seller in the UK tho'. Current speculation is smallest engines will be 6 cylinders with prices starting from £34k!!!

That means that the new range starts with the equivalent of the current 3.0si, thats a big leap up from the current 2.0 which the the UKs best seller!

Remember when the current Z4 came out you could only get 2.5 or 3.0, the 2.2 and 2.0 came much later on (after they said they never would have a 4 cylinder) so I would expect more of the same, the smaller engines will come afterwards.

BMW ALWAYS release the bigger engines first on every model, so those who want it early spend a lot. Smaller engines come later...then the inevitable M. 3 Series coupe was the 335i and 325i, then the 330, then the 330d, 318, 320, and the rest of the diesels much later...

I really liked the previous shots, these are quite worrying. Front looks good but whats with that side profile...? Love the interior though

Looks quite a bit bigger than the current Z4...

If it was called the Z5 I'd be more open to liking it, but calling it a Z4 when the current one is THE Z4 just doesn't make sense to me :)

Where to even start LOL

Mr Whippy, I don't think it will be much bigger, but because you sit further towards the middle of the car (because of the roof) I think it makes the whole car look slightly bigger.

I think with the 19" wheels it will look awesome.

I wonder if there will be an aerokit option and what trim this model is, it's the 335 engined car (sDrive35i) but is it M Sport or SE or what?

the front is very masculine, in a way like the new sl. The back looks badass! The side view is pretty ugly though if you ask me.

I also wonder what 9th May for the release is, whether that is Europe od the US, I expect we will find out some more snippets of info tomorrow and then Monday obviously.

bmwmike, the side profile isn't ideal but some of that could be down to the pics I think, I will reserve judgement until I see some higher res pics.

I like it a lot. I agree that it does have a certain Jaguar look to it. Seeing how I barely put a 1000 miles on my z4 a year, I don't think I could justify upgrading. But I'm still interested in the pricing, engine specs, and how big the trunk is or isn't with that hardtop.
