I saw one in the flesh this morning... in red in Dublin. :wub:

Not a massive fan of the merc... but wow!

Didnt get a chance to take a pic... but got a google image:

I went on the specs.. Aside from claiming to be the fastest retracting hard top mechanism you can even get them with an electrochromatic glass roof, which darkers at a flick of a switch!

Then saw the price :headbang:
 
Hmmmm. Still not loving it all that much. How much is it ?

Also, anyone know why the passenger seat always looks like it's hunkered down unless someone is in it ? Noticed this a lot on shots of these and can't work it out... :?

Base £82,200
I configured it on the site with a nice red, with £3K fine nappa seats
Then magic sky roof (3K)
AMG styling (5K)
Lane assist and park tronic, distrotonic, airscarf....

And before i knew it i had got it to £115K :o
 
Ugly... :sick: Modern Merc's just don't do anything for me and at £82k for a base model then I think you'd be mad to get one!

But is more a luxury cruiser then a track slag.
 
The R230 (2008+ facelift) is a gorgeous car. I've always liked SL's especially the R129 1999+ facelifted cars and of course who doesnt like the first gen gullwing 300SL

Not fussed about the power. Anything over 150bhp/ton is more than enough for me.
 
Autocar tested this the other week.

It's properly quick too - 0-100mph in 9.8!! Goodness knows what the AMG version will manage.

It's just the headrest being height-adjustable.

Yeah I read that test, was well rapid. They're doing 63 and 65 AMG models, but this would be surely more than fast enough.

V12 SL65 AMG

0-62
V8 SL63:
4.3 sec
V12 SL65 AMG:
4 sec

The SL65 also has a 1000 NM torque

Didn't the previous top AMG SL have a 1000Nm of torque too? Is that about 730 ft/lb? I seem to recall that was the maximum their gearbox could handle!!
 
Looks pretty dart smart, I'm really liking the modern Mercs styling. Much more than all the Audi's that look the same....

The styling does nothing for me, I'm afraid.... to fussy. And that price tag is just plain scary! :o
