The new car

When I ordered the new car I specifically told them that I wanted them to stick the plates on and not put screws and caps thro the plates and front panel.
I've just got a video clip sent to me while on holiday in Germany and what have they done?....

Yes - screwed it on !

Ok says the salesman - we will fix that - probably by new plates - I said that I wanted them stuck on as I wanted to put my DVLA legal short plate on at a later date without screw holes showing :headbang:

How do we get out of this situation I wonder - not keen on a repaired front panel on £50k new car - it's sort of spoiled my afternoon somewhat! :(

I think you could probably refuse the car seeing as they've got your precise instructions badly wrong, new bumpers at their expense?
Not your fault!
Rob

There was a reluctance to stick them on at first but made it clear that I wanted them stuck on. A new front panel on a new car ? Resprayed?
I wonder if there are any implications later ?

The rear plate can be replaced and the holes covered ( it a plastic panel From memory)

If you put the instruction in writing or they confirm to you in writing the verbal instruction given then you can use this to get whatever outcome you wish.

If you have neither of the above the press for what you want knowing that it's not a provable instruction.

Why does nobody bloody well listen, everyone you speak to has tales of screw ups in all trades etc, the amount of wasted money and time must be astronomical. :headbang:

We saw the salesman write the instruction but it's not on the generated sales form.
He has acknowledged it was a specific request when the order was placed .

His emails talk of rectifying the situation .

I'm quite happy to keep my 3.0l

It's good it's confirmed. Make sure you get evidence in case the situation develops. It's either plugs or new bumpers. Or worst case they filler them and respray the bumper which dependent on the colour of the car may produce an even worse situation in terms of bumper to body colour match.

My one tip, don't let them paint it.

They always seem to make a simple task difficult :headbang: I went to pick up a new one series a few years ago and the bumper was damaged so I insisted they get a new factory painted bumper from Germany! I would ask for the same if I was you.
Hope you get it sorted

If you insist (and I would) they will have to replace the front bumper. I'd be fuming. :x

A few years back I had an EP3 Civic type R and noticed the rear plate was screwed on but not using the factory grommets, the dealers had drilled and used a self tapper screw through the metal tailgate! A friend also had the same car from the same dealer and guess what when I asked him to check........... exactly the same, drilled into the metal tailgate! He was furious as he had bought his new from there!
Bloody idiots.

They've been told - do not piddle about trying to rectify the situation - it's been drilled and I said DO NOT !

One of my pet hates, screwed on plates. One of the first things I do with a new vehicle is swap them and stick them on!

Not sure on the E89, but my E85 has a "holder" for the front plate, which itself is screwed to the bumper, and can therefore be replaced separately.

I'm still on holiday and waiting of the salesmans reply - if he/they don't get their backsides into gear and come up with an acceptable solution, it might be Porsche yet?

The salesman promised to reply Sept 1st - nothing in my inboxes to date ! :x

:headbang: :headbang: Makes you want to eat your own young does'nt it.. :x

It certainly comes into the "what boils ya p###"
A simple do not should be simple! - I wasn't asking them to do anything extra! It was suggested that there will be a nominal charge to remove and fit my smart top module!
They can now take any hint of a charge and shove it where the sun doesn't shine !
