The Mystery, and Beauty of Extended Leather..........

I'm actually surprised how few cars even have EL, it seems like no-one wanted it!
Just the price really, because otherwise it looks ace, really lifts the standard cabin.

+1. The extended leather definitely looks extremely nice and of high quality. Personally, I just couldn't justify spending $3k on extended leather in a sports car and especially in a roadster.

Can you tell me what this is?
Its the BMW assist button,

TBH I'm not exactly sure what it does as Ive never pushed it lol,

If anyone else can chime in who HAS pushed it lemme know :)

I like not having one better. I've got a nice cubby hole in place of that. It's perfect for my cell phone w/ bluetooth headset.

I have the bluetooth built into the car and use the side net for my iPhone
My previous Z4 didn't have BMW assist and yes that little cubby came in useful, and also with Nav your center storage console space is cut in half,

Still I didn't buy a roadster to be practical

Wow, 3 g's for that option?? I'd pass as well..

WOWWWWWW this' SUPERB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is it aftermarket or u got it from BMW options?

Looks great, but $2700 seemed like way to much to me for something no one but you will ever notice.

OK, so i'll be the one to change the long-running question:
Instead of..
"what's extended leather?"
it's now...
"what are the part numbers & costs for retrofit?"

Seriously, though - would be great if you could order the bits and swap 'em in...

Nice car starscream - the colour's especially good

Great write up Starsceam.

I always thought that with extended leather the back of the seats were covered with leather also. I think that would be more desireable, right ovrkll? :poke:

Extended leather for the coupes leaves off the leather covered roll hoops (we don't have those even though the bulkhead is still in place) and leaves off the leather where the roof would meet the top of the windshield. We still have leather door cards, leather visors and leather around the handbrake.

I think the option was a little less for coupe versus roadster and this should be why.

My door cards are all leather (except the handle and button panel of course) but haven't got most of the other bits - are you sure the door cards are optional??

Thanks guys!
Took me a while to see this thread has had recent replies

Hopefully the weather will break soon so I can enjoy the car thats sat all winter

I like a lot of it, but I prefer my Brushed Metal trim on the dash and centre console. Breaks things up a bit IMHO.
