The March 2012 Photo Competition - COMMENTS

I was just wondering if there are some months when 'Photoshopping' will not be allowed?
Not too often as it's very difficult to prove if an image has been photoshopped.

Also....
Here is my opinion on the subject. Please feel free to disagree. Before digital photography those individuals that were more experienced often developed and printed there own photos. Once the negative was developed they could use their skill to improved the image by a variety of means in the darkroom. Including the choice of paper, use of filters in printing, dodging, burning, lens or easel tilt just to mention a few basic methods. Then there was retouching which was done directly on the negative or the finished print. In effect what they were doing was “photoshopping”. I can't recall that any of these techniques were forbidden when entering a photo into a contest. Today with digital photography “photoshopping” IMO is nothing more that what was once done in the darkroom. Photoshopping is a necessary skill for the advanced amateur today as much as a darkroom was for the advanced amateur 20 or 30 years ago.

Just so everyone is happy, photo purists or otherwise, my photo (number 2 currently), hasn't been touched, altered, photoshopped in anyway. Although i'm thinking I should have cropped the pic to frame it a little better, or is tharather to make my driving a little better! ! :driving:

The only thing we added to the our photo (number 3) is the little logo on the bottom right. just so everyone knows, we arent photographers at all! just two guys with some cheap DSLRs.

I wish! My parents always intended to retire to that area so every holiday in my early teen years were spent between Ballantrae and Girvan. Very happy memories going round Ailsa Craig in an open boat and scorching sunshine, gannets all around and maybe the odd sighting of a basking whale or dolphin. Magic place, magic times!

Socketr is doing it for me at the minute. Looks absolutely stunning. That's the only picture I've seen that makes deep sea blue look a worthy contender on the zed.. Wow!!

As far as I can see only one E89 has ever won the gallery comp!

Do you think all the recent "recession white" purchases will improve the odds over the next couple of months?

Any white zed gets my vote
