it aint the gearbox you have to worry about
twice in 3 months at the beginning of the year i was at my indy with different V10's in pieces . both blown engines with mediocre miles covered :o

yep & just for your future thoughts :P the parts alone on one of the engines had come to over £6k ! :o
luckily for the other owner he had warranty cover so new engine was being negotiated & a dartboard needed to guess the cost of that

how much does warranty for an m5 cost? assuming the vast majority of ones out there for sub 23k pounds have done over 50k miles...we talking about 2k a year??

Seems a bit odd that I saw this months ago in a bad state, then a few weeks ago in a terrible state so posted a thread about it. Then everyone was shocked by it and were slating the dealer. Then miraculously the car is transformed in a week or two, looking good (or better) and has sold! They had all that time but it was only once this was posted the car has been sorted.

Do you think Dick Lovett BMW saw this thread and were worried about their reputation? So fixed it up nicely, or is there a dealer 'mole' on here?!

Seems a bit of a coincidence...maybe I'm just being too suspicious and pessimistic?!!

Is this the same car...?

http://www.autostradacars.com/Stock.aspx (9th row down, yes I enjoyed looking at all the other cars for sale too...!) or http://autotrader.mobi/used-cars/advert/201244490872889/viewing-3/0?PHPSESSID=gm3aqnhrolub4hvhog0p1cgns5

Looks pretty similar with the piano dash and rear tints with gammy wheel badges and a 'hairy' interior etc! And is very local to Dick Lovett, not sure if they sold it privately or traded it off, ie to the above dealership? Hhhmmmmm.

Now here is how to get a great looking Zed buy this and swap the interior with the guys with the Sepang -imola combo

We get that red water seen on the boot lid build up on the boats being stored at work. Not sure what it is, maybe something to do with water running off the roof of the building, or maybe nearby trees. Definitely not rust, so stop panicking!

It is £168 a month if the car is over 60,000 miles. If below 60,000 miles, it is a a very reasonable £108 a month for the full fat, BMW recovery, £0 excess Comprehensive level of cover.

To all the nay-sayers on here - I sold my Z4MC 9 months ago after covering almost 50k miles in just under 5 years as it was not being driven enough. It was replaced by an BMW AUC M5 Touring. I also had a chance to be re-united with my old car at a Bedford track day two weeks ago. I had mixed feelings - would I feel a real pang of grief - the sort of which you experience when you see an ex holding hands with someone else... Much to my relief, I did not. Granted, I still enjoyed the experience a lot, but my God, the M5 is just soooooooo much more on every level, except looks... If you can find a E60 (E61s are still mid to high 20s) with less than 60k miles and similarly priced to a Z4M it is soo much car for the money, it is hard to ignore...

Tales of fragility are frankly rubbish - the V10 is just as unburstable as the S54. Both could suffer from Vanos issues, but that's about it. The V10 is so electronically protected, it is almost impossible to destroy it. Lack of servicing will do though. The only really weak point in the car is the clutch - not the actual unit, which is very nicely designed twin disc set-up, but the stupid factory fitted release bearing, where the grease dries over time and makes it stick on the intermediate shaft, thus toasting the friction plates, intermediate plate and flywheel in the process... BMW Warranty coveres the issue - funnily enough, new release bearings come with proper grease, which sorts the problem. The gearbox itself is indestructable, because yet again it has a multitude of sensors to protect it. Just think of this drivetrain in a 4-door saloon :driving: ...

Looking at the aerial I would say yes as it's the same length but looks shorter on both but looks shorter than OEM.
