The last M3 Coupe

Just picked this link up from another forum.... not sure it will have the same cult following as the E46 M3 but the end of the line for a great car none the less.
 
Prices have been crucified and I think will continue to fall - BMW didn't help with the offers on new ones for the last 6 months. It will take time but it will have a following (does the E46 really have a following?) for being a manual and a singing V8. When I drove one I came away confused with what it actually was it was just so easy to drive and didn't feel special (now at £20k I suppose its a different animal now) where if you wated some excitement you needed to be hitting the limiter constantly and going well over 120mph. I doubt it will ever get to the heights of an E30.

That is a good sum up for the E92 M3 & it's great fun when you are absolutely ragging it but it does feel too steady at normal speeds.

quite a large one in bmwcc circles - the E30 will be the classic but the E46 is well loved as well

then of course there is everyones favourite..

That was what I was alluding to: the CSL has a cult cult following where the E46 has it fans but its a mass produced machine and with current price levels its attainable by the unsavory types (just look at M3cutters - chavs ahoy!) which may mean 'mint' examples stay firm bid.
 
If anyone is in the market for an e46 drop top my mate has a clean one. He has brought a new car and has not got round to selling it yet ( o to have the money for that sort of behavior ) I can get details if anyone is interested.
 
I was never a massive fan of the E9x M3. Weird as I normally go weak at the knees at the thought of a V8. However, in agreement with the above it just didn't feel right wringing the neck of a V8. There was however a massive different between the manual and the auto in the e9x models. I hate to admit it but the auto was likely a completely different (and much better) car.

The e46 has a weird market at the moment. It seems half the owners think they are modern classics and the other half are chav street racers. I suspect that when the E9x models depreciate a little more the chavs will move onto them leaving behind a load of cheap E46 shaped m metal. That will be the time to buy one cheap, clean it up and lock it away.
