I don’t think either of us are in a position to comment on how happy [ref]Stevo1987[/ref], is with his Mrs, for all you know she could already be a young, well spec’d low mileage model already :P

Hey I wasnt assuming anything besides... it could be his Mr :idunno: 2021 and all that Andy!!

Nor me and I couldn’t care less one way or the other, each to their own but in this case it’s definitely a Mrs

If you don't keep up with the news then you're not in the know how. Only proof I've seen was news reports of intensive care units in hospitals I think in Italy and Spain last weekend seeing increased admissions of young Covid patients. Now unless it's just made up for the hell of it, it's good enough proof for me to be honest.

My comment regarding younger age groups dismissing Covid wasn't directly at any individuals on here

It would just be a shame to fall seriously ill with Covid because you felt that published stats and figures makes it alright and that your less likely to secumme simply because you fall in a younger age bracket.

I guess I take note more of factual news reports at the coal face than stats off the internet :)

Maybe that'd just be natural selection :poke:

So no real evidence other than something that you think you have seen on the telly? I would guess that if the virus cases are rising in Italy and Spain then there will be more people (of all ages) attending hospital. So i guess you are right really in saying that it is "affecting more younger persons" because the virus is more prevalent in those countries. The same would happen here if our levels went up.

I guess it's just the picture your news outlet has painted for you.

The really ironic thing here Tim is I am giving you the figures that the Government publish each day where as your "factual news" is opinion rather than facts.

If we take a look at last week's figures for Deaths in Hospitals since the pandemic started we can see that 78 people in my age group without pre-existing medical conditions have tested positive for Covid and have died within 28 days after (it could easily not be the main killer for some of them).

I will take my chances guys. I know more about the effects of the virus than I do of the vaccine. I should be reet but thanks for your concern

PS- government figures them Tim. Not hocus pocus off the old tinternet.

Yepp I don't get the mentality either that just because your below say 50 you're somehow invincible to Covid or think that if you do catch it that it it will just be a minor nuisance  Even worse if you think this and decide to pass on the vaccine thinking it's an old persons disease. A work colleague has only just started back at work after catching Covid before Christmas, completely knocked her out for six. In her 40s, healthy with no underlying health issues so it's completely indescriminate towards its victims at the end of the day. More worryingly the latest reassurgence across Europe is said to be affecting more younger persons so probably another good reason all age groups get vaccinated asap.

Tim.

Yeah, there has been thousands of kids as young as 6 or 7getting very ill,or dying from it.
So,as you say,it doesn't discriminate.

And ,No,I don't have some bs quote to back that up,as I have better things to do with my time than trawl the internet for several countries own published figures of how many people have died in each country, and in each age group, but then, some of us actually have a Wife/Girlfriend

One interesting fact I was told today, is that there is a telephone number that un-paid / un-registered carers can call and book to get the jab

Aparantely you’re not asked who you care for, or the level care required. Nor does age matter

Because the rules are so easily misinterpreted, people in their 30’s and 40’s, that regularly check in on relatives / deliver shopping are getting the jab

I know of a teacher who has recently had her jab via this method and isn’t a carer for anyone

I know in theory it’s taking a jab from someone more needy but I’ve also heard of jabs going to waste as they haven’t got enough people to give them to

So if you haven’t had your jab and someone relies on you for some form of care it might be worth investigating

The wastage is an issue, in Scotland there are calls made to front line emergency services to go in and have jabs if there are left over doses which is clever, no point in letting it just go to waste! Did you see the doctor in the US that was struck off for giving jabs to friends and family? Clicky

Very valid point Ronk.

I have wasted a lot of time on this thread. It has been rather eye opening mind.

Good to see you starting to use stats to make your point mind- there is hope for us all

To be honest I believe what I see in news interviews, i.e. with my own eyes which is health professionals being interviewed on their intensive care wards giving the facts from the horses mouth, I'm probably more likely to believe them than Government stats to be honest. They might be right, they might be wrong but you as I have no way of substantiating such statistics. I just prefer to listen and more likely to believe people doing the job

By the way, it's not what I think I saw, it's what I did see so no need to be quite so condescending

Tim.
