Thought you were done? Or are you just being the proverbial pigeon here, knocking the pieces down and shitting on the board?

Being a "vast" minority is that 49.9%? :paper:

Be glad when this virus is conquered and you can get away from the keyboard....if only for the fact that a couple of you can discover something else to whine about.....

As long as there have been medical treatments available there have been people on either side promoting or denigrating such treatments.

If you go back to the early days of the Internet the anti vaccine brigade gained greater ability to promulgate their views.

For those frustrated by their inability to connect with / convert those people this WHO document may provide a better perspective.

https://www.who.int/immunization/sage/meetings/2016/october/8_Best-practice-guidance-respond-vocal-vaccine-deniers-public.pdf

You'll notice this document was written well before the COIVID 19 pandemic.

Put simply, you are never ever going to convert a hard core anti vaccine person BUT by annuciating the logic and argument you MAY convert some of those who are 'hesitant', but don't hold your hopes to high.

The best course of action sadly is through the results and people seeing the consequences of not adopting vaccine programs.

So as others have said..once logic has been applied don't waste your breath here, fight the battle where it matters most with your peers, friends and family, primarily through leading by example.

That's interesting, what about convincing a pro vaccine person that has reservations about this one vaccine because of its dubious longevity, apparent pointlessness (based on death rates) and concerns due to it being never before used technology?

[ref]Ed.Straker[/ref],

You really haven't read the room (or the thread here). No one with the exception of our American cousin is what you would describe as part of the "anti vaccine brigade".

I think most people that have presented an argument (and facts, research etc) against having a vaccine all think it's a great idea for the people who are at risk to be vaccinated. They have been actively encouraging the old to have (I know I have said this on many occasions).

Perhaps I might suggest a focus on keeping yourself safe and letting the other grownups make their decisions on whats right for them to put in their bodies.

Silly.

Not holding your arm out = Antivaxxer.
and
Antivaxxer = Selfish person.

Booked my 2 jabs up yesterday, first is this Thursday and second on 27th May. Have to say the NHS booking site was spot on, quick and easy to do and can't fault anything. Looking forward to getting the jabs done and dusted and back to relative normality ASAP

Tim.

Hope you don't have any plans for the bank holiday when you have your second, as if you get the AZ one, the second is a lot worse than the first.

Still hoping I get the Pfizer one to avoid that.

No idea which one it will be but a work colleague had the Oxford jab at the same centre I'm booked into so assuming it will be the same :) not bothered either way to be honest, better than a poke in the eye.

You’re confused...? :?

It’s not difficult, you can still get the virus and spread it but you won’t die or be ill from it or clog up the NHS with the vaccine....the virus ain’t going anywhere, we’re just protecting ourselves from it. Shame some won’t but that’s their lookout, the sane and vast majority will.

Odd to do that huh..... :idunno:

... you just repeated what I said, to try and be smart

The confusion comes from this apparent "get the jab and it will all be back to normal hunkydory" mentality/narrative, around 40% of the UK population has been vaccinated, deaths have fallen by 41% yet here we are including the people that have had the thing still locked away in homes scared to go outside, businesses are still shut, gyms closed, restaurants closed, people are scared to travel or live life, the jab that was meant to sort everything is doing a shite job :idunno:
Soon in the next couple of months 100% of all adults will have been given the opportunity to have the jab. Then with businesses open and boosters every year like the flu jab, life will be back to normal in the UK. Again hopefully we can then set about helping the poorer countries of the Commonwealth and the world.

You get the same vaccine for the second as you did for the first and usually at the same venue. I have friends that have had second doses of both vaccines and no side effects other than a sore arm for 2 days, which are better symptoms than death..
