I had to go to the doctors and pick up a prescription for my mum, this morning

The receptionists both had the type of masks on, that you’d see construction workers wearing. Like this:

I asked if they were better than the basic cloth ones I’ve got and they said the advise they’re given is that the type I was wearing are basically useless as any Covid particles in the air are much smaller than the gaps in the material, meaning you’ll breath the particles in, wether you’re wearing a basic mask or not

I’d naively assumed any mask would prevent the particles getting through.

So unless your using relatively expensive masks you may as well not bother, was how I understood it

I’ll keep wearing mine but does make you wonder

What sort of basic cloth one? Do you mean the mass opportunist sewn up in a back street type, or the standard issue 3-layer white/blue ones that at least 'look' more professional?
Just wondering as I got a supply of the blue/white type that appear the same as you see all the nurses wearing, but a lot of people around here are wearing just the single layer fabric ones in various fancy patterns.

This shows a disturbing lack of awareness on the point of face masks. It's not to keep viruses OUT it's to keep viruses etc IN, so you don't spread them to anyone else. Given that then anything the reception staff were spouting was probably also bollocks. :headbang:

This old chestnut... Masks in the COVID context are worn to minimise each person’s spread of any of the virus they may have.

People in ASIA have known this for years & why they wear them when they’re ill (& the West in their ignorance have laughed at them not understanding this reason why)

The virus is made airborne by hosts, where it can live for a certain time without one - the majority of it originates from a hosts nose & mouth - masks significantly reduce its travel, but don’t eliminate it...

That type of mask allows air to escape quickly on exhalation with a valve, but shuts on inhalation. Therefore sharing their germs with you, but not yours with them.

...Or Margaret Ferrier?
Didnt know she was in charge
No, this one...... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-55419564
Still. You will find that she isnt a guy, shes female. :)
She may be in charge of Scotland but not in charge of the country. :)
She admitted she was wrong and apologised for it. :)
Has the person I was talking about ever apologised for anything that he has done wrong? :(

Please don’t tell me anything that makes sense. Don’t you know that is not what I was told to think?!

Just imagine what the numbers would be if we were testing the same amount of people as we were at on the 31st of October when the enforced the second lockdown. I can see by my rough "man maths" that they are having to test circa 50% more people to get the same number of positives.

I feel that they would have to be having a different conversation about opening up now as the numbers would be significantly lower.

I am so nervous about what they are going to say on the 22nd. I have a feeling that they have successfully conditioned enough drones that even having vaccinated all of the at risk and probably the over 50's at that point they will be to scared to want their freedoms back and will happily write off another 6 months of their lives whilst vaccinated and protected sitting in their homes.
