The hydraulic steering full lock whistle/squeek

So this was mentioned in my other thread, some people say a noise is expected on hydraulic steering at full lock... I've now clearly captured this on video and it's actually a lot louder than I had originally thought, when hearing it with the door open. This surely cannot be normal. Please let me know/confirm that you guys don't get this at full lock. Apologies that the video is sideways, stupid camera phone got its arse in a twist. If I can fix that in YouTube I will, but probably unlikely!

Kudos to Evans Halshaw, I think they figured they're out of their depth with a car like this and have made a referral for me to go to BMW to have this seen to.

That's definitely not normal, almost sounds like metal on metal type grinding noise. Certainly doesn't sound like your typical belt.

I would put money on it being pump related.
 
I would agree with the above. It sounds like a Mini steering pump, known to be very loud. If it helps, similar car, mine is nothing like as loud on full lock.
 
Very much does help! Need to get this sorted ASAP whilst it's still in the warranty period. This is probably going to cost Evans Halshaw a lot more than they had hoped...!
 
Mine makes a sound on full lock both sides, not a squeak as such. I always just thought this is a characteristic of the car. Does everyone else have completely silent racks?
