The Great South West Run...

awesome ive been itching to get some welsh driving in with other Z's. The black mountain road is fantastic and so is the road just north of penderyn (the welsh whiskey makers-well worth a quick 5 mins tea break), but where ever we go count me well in. W-S_M/cheddar/wales is a lot of driving for one day! :driving:

We'll start building the list and finalise the route nearer the time. There's so much good stuff to see and do it might be tough to fit it all in :)

Yes really! :-)

I arrive in the UK on the 14th December and won't be leaving until 27th January...with a bit of time in France in the middle. I already have various commitments, but still have a couple of clear weekends. It would be excellent to join a run and meet some of you if I could whilst I'm 'in the area'... ;-)

It might be tight for a few people, as that's the weekend a lot of people will be going back to work after new year, but let's see what people's thoughts are. If nothing else, we should try and arrange a drink or something to claim what must be the longest distance ever travelled to a meet!

Where are you staying in the UK?

I'd be up for a meet for a meet - if only to be there when what I think is possibly my record (at 550miles or so) is broken :D

Used to go down the gorge with my old road cycling club roughly 2 to 3 times a year.
Got 60mph once.
One time my rear tyre blew out at 50mph. I stayed up somehow but as I was on the front of the bunch there were some long, long skid marks. Many on the road too!
Live in Staffs now but as a newbie would love to try and make it.

Hi Stuart, we're all over the place - Olney (Bucks) pre-Christmas, Kelso (Roxburghshire) 21st to 28th December, and then Burford (The Cotswolds) 28th December to 4th January followed by London, Paris, Geneva, blah, blah, blah ;-)

Perhaps the week I'm in Burford could present an opportunity for us to catch up and enjoy a cleansing ale or two...? I'll be mobile so can travel to you if that helps. Let me know if you think you'll be around.

And Bing you're welcome too of course :-)

Let's get this clear, anyone turning up in a mankini gets their keys taken away and sent home on a bus...

er, i thought this is what roadster owners where in the summer months

Right then, as the outstandingly successful Surrey meet is done, and in an attempt to get Taz's longest distance attendee record broken, what do folks think about Sunday Jan 6th. If we do that date then RidgyDidge can join. We'll have to work hard to beat Australia to the UK for a Forum meet...

Time to start thinking about realistic route planning. Who's up for that?

Cheddar is high on the list, if we went up to Bristol and did Clifton we could cross the bridge and stop on the Downs maybe?

With the food point from Surrey, I'm thinking a good pub lunch?

Yes I am in and the 6th is now a busy day driving in my diary :D it's my first one so I won't be taking any duties if that's ok? So I will just turn up and drive on the middle. Will be happy to help once I have popped my cheery.

How exciting :D
