The Grand Tour Ep1

Internet a bit delayed up north as you have only just got to episode 1? :poke:

Ive been away from home 4 weeks out of the last 6 & first week back on the hammer this week meant i wasn't really up for much TV till last night

Episode 3 definate improvement if only for the lack of the American prattling on. Love the Aston Db11 and can't wait to see one at the local dealership. WOW

Watched Ep3 last night - enjoyed it much more than Ep2; the tour through Italy was breath taking
We use that car park at Whitby; initially I thought they may be driving some of the great roads around North Yorkshire, but its obvious now that the tent's location has nothing to do with the programme content.

Just started watching Ep4, is it just me, or did anyone else feel seasick with the way the camera was bobbing up and down in the tent when facing the water??

But - JESUS H C! That GT3RS - 500bhp from a normally aspirated 4 ltr?? And it gets to 9,000 rpm WTF!

Jezza wasn't a fan of the M4 GTS though...

Mike

Thought I was watching a repeat of last weeks to begin with. Back at Whitby again. I've watched up to the end of Clarkson's 911 GT3 review - loving it so far

SIZE of those anchors on the GT3RS!!

At that point now - Must say it looks fantastic in UHD, why did I watch the last 3 in boggo HD?? The camera work is spot on!

Mike

EDIT - Oh FFS, the American is back... At 16:30, he says - "Driving a BMW, BRITISH motor works" KNOB!

I've just managed to watch 1 and 2 back to back, 1 was great but 2 was pretty dire and so weirdly 'flat' I'm ashamed to say I actually fast-forwarded quite a bit of it. I'll take a breather before trying 3 but from what you guys are saying it gets a bit better so here's hoping. :|

........ certainly not worth taking out an Amazon prime subscription for so glad I tried it for free on a 3.14159key streaming site

Episode 2 was a flat spot - it gets better, just watched Ep4 and its back to its best imo, had me laughing out loud :D

Agree, just wish the American and the Celeb thing would be axed..

Mike

Episode 1 - promising (some parts excellent) and thought they'd need time to settle the format :)
Episode 2 - very different to the first - self indulgent and boring - started to get worried :(
Episode 3 - felt a little relieved as it improved :)
Episode 4 - if I was to watch it again I'd fast forward a lot . . . . . . . oh dear, I so want it to work. :(
Episode 5 - I'm hoping . . . . . . . :|

Ep5 & claim to fame.

From Holland this week yay.
Excellent roadster feature plus a funny sequence playing battleships with the g-whizz lekkymobile.

My ex boss at Faber Design Consultancy, Stan Withers, configured the electrics for the as it was then known 'think' electric car. He was seconded over to Think in Norway where he apparently spent 6 weeks in the 'coldest f*cking place I've ever worked' lol He came back to the UK a shadow of his former self due to the extreme temps and working conditions.

He was retirement age when i was working under him and taught me most of what i know about the nuclear industry.
The bugger used to delight in sending me up to Sellafield for lengthy site visits to the SIXEP build on a regular basis but he was a top bloke. He's probably kicked it by now but it was a pure delight to see one of his legacies put to good use in a popular motoring programme!

Porsche and the M4 was good but the rest imo was crap. The environmently friendly cars just went on and on and became boring. I think they've lost a little of their pizazz during the long break .

Went seriously downhill after that

When they are reviewing cars it's as good as before but as previously commented, they are trying too hard to be funny / crazy. Half of each show is good and the other half not worth watching
