The forum equilibrium has been restored

After an eventful day on the wonderful Z4 forum, the equilibrium seems to have finally been restored. All is good in the world.
A nutter has been driven out and banished and Pete's finally back after all these years. God bless us and all who sail in us :D

Not a bad day all round, and we still have you here.

I just hope you didn't start this thread after taking L plate lessons!

He may have been over the top, but you can't deny he made an impression. This forum should be, more than anything, entertainment surely?

You should be so proud. No, really.
The fact that you see yourself as a self-proclaimed arbiter of 'equilibrium' speaks volumes.

You go for a walk on the moors, you come back and you mist a fun day on the forum. I really should stay in more. :D

Edit: A quick traw and up to speed, good move by the boss.

Does that mean I need to start a vaccine debate thread as well? :poke:

He has been banned from the forum. For those who wondered why he was allowed to stay so long, the best way to get these people to move on is to ignore them. They feed off the responses and the more they get the more they post.

The problem with immediately banning people like this is they just see it as a challenge to return, we have seen it so many times. If you ban someone by IP they just get a new one (not going into the many ways of doint that). Email addresses are also easy to create. There are other ways I use to detect returning users, but nothing is infallable. The point really is the beast and easiest way of getting people to move on is to either ignore them and they get bored, or actually to ask them to go away.

In this case the guys was getting the responses he was looking for and as such was not going to leave, so I banned him. The fact he was around for a while was nothing to do with me being happy for him to be here.

Over the years (since 2007... time flies, eh!) we have had several "personalities" who cause divide or debate on the forum... largely I find it best to let the forum moderate itself in that respect... where this guy annoyed me was his constant garbage about owning Ferraris etc... pretty sure the closest he has got to a Ferrari is the poster on the wall of his bedroom above the pile of crusty socks!

Anyway, if anyone sees any similar posts then please use the report post function and we will jump on it, more effective than replying to them.

Cheers,

Crusty socks? You mean Woots?

Haha, I remember that (wish I didn't!)... We need a thread remembering "memorable members" from the past! (yes, I know what I did there!)

Hello all,

what happened? who has been banned?

I haven't been around much and obviously missed some interesting developments!

See he started off on a serious note, enquiring on the difference between the 35i and 35iS all good stuff, but it was the type and use of language that became tedious very quickly. No one with any kind of social awareness uses opaque language like that unless they’ve got a lot of free time on their hands and most normals just can’t be arsed. He was certainly a special type of troll

Just another troll thinking they were intelligent, most people very quickly recognised him/her for what they were though.

In typical troll form when they realised their time was up, started a lot of asinine threads.

I am a bit confused about our our friend MAD.
I spoke with him several times via PM, as I championed him because at first he was (IMO) witty, intelligent and a breath of fresh air; albeit slightly different in his manner.
If he was to be believed (no reason not to), he was a 78 year old semi-retired property developer called Graham, who likes his cars and was genuinely looking for advice and information on buying an E89 35is as an addition to his car collection.
I personally think he was never a troll (not sure what that officially means TBH), just got a bit carried away and when he realised he was getting negative press tried too hard to remedy the situation without reading the reactions.
My 2p anyway.
